When it rains, it pours.

In addition to the afore-posted medical issues, things just keep piling up. A couple of weeks ago, we finally got our butts out and bought a stand for the big screen TV we bought a couple of months ago (Christmas sale) and then we decided to spend a bit more of our economic stimulus money from last year and replace our 15 year old recliner that I hated so much. All was good, we still had well over $800 left when all was done.

Until Monday night, when I was eating a piece of hard candy (working on quitting smoking) and broke a tooth.
Awesome.
It was one of my molars that was more filling than it was tooth and a whole side snapped off. So off to the dentist Tuesday morning and got a temp cap put on while they make up the permanent one. Six hundred dollars and an hour and half later, I was all set.
I was bummed because the $800+ we had left was going towards a new fridge. But hey, there's still nearly $300 left, so we'll just put off the new fridge until we can build up the money again.

Tonight the hubby started the dishwasher, and 10 minutes later I walked through the kitchen and said 'what smells like burning plastic?'. Yep, it was the dishwasher. I'm guessing a pump burned out, as no water was pumping into the machine. We've had it for probably 12-14 years, so it's not surprising, but it is a huge disappointment. So bye-bye fridge money, you're now the dishwasher money and we're back to square one with the icky old fridge. The old dishwasher wasn't energy star compliant or whatever, and I'm sure a new one will save us money with electricity and water, but darnitall, I wanted a new fridge. Really, the old fridge is even older than the dishwasher, seeing as we bought it used 15 years ago when we bought the house. So I'm sure it's not any kind of energy efficient, either.

And yes, I know a fridge is more of a necessity than a dishwasher, but I really enjoy having a dishwasher and not having to do everything by hand. I'm sure we could muddle through without one, but no one here would be happy about it and having one would just make everything more simple.

I wonder what my odds are of finding a decent used fridge on Craigslist? I guess I'll have to hunt around and see.

bummer
