I go to pick up the car today. Honestly, I'm a little more nervous than I am excited. I mean, I don't really /want/ a car if I can get by without one. The prospect of increased freedom and mobility is alluring, yes, but at this exact point in my life it mostly represents a big expensive thing, which could, at any moment, for a number of reasons (engine trouble, accident, etc,) become a giant, immediate, financial liability. I don't so much count the cost of gas/everyday maintenance, as that, I'm hoping, won't exceed or won't much exceed what I now pay for constant buses and trains.
On the positive side of life --- I found an MP3 player! Judging from the purikura stuck to the back it dates from about 2002, I'd say. But it works fine. Which is surprising, because I'm not the sort to buy a new mp3 player just because...I usually only buy one when I manage to break the current one.
For a while now, I've been using one with a broken unreadable screen. It's stuck on all-tracks/random, and you can't add anything to it, but it plays. Since I've made this wonderful discovery, I can go back to actually being able to add new tracks to my currently listening, and stave off replacing the broken one a little longer. Awesome!
