(no subject)
If anyone needed proof that I prefer planning in the long term, this is a pretty good one: I'm moving. In January XD Or thereabouts, anyway.
I finally got up the nerve to tell my mom I want my own place. She didn't take it... too badly. I managed to convince her I'm not wanting to move out because I'm mad at her or because I think she's taking advantage of me or anything, and she doesn't seem hurt, but she is unhappy about it. I contribute a lot to the household, after all-- rent, food, animal care, chores, that kind of thing. As well as emotional stability, which she rather carefully didn't mention, which makes me a little nervous, but >.> Well, I'm 26, dammit. I want my own place ;.;
So we're planning for January-ish. I have a vacation planned in September (yayomg!) and I have two house-sitting events in November, and I wanna give her plenty of time to save up, rework her budget, etc. And plenty of time to make sure my bank account is nice and fat for emergencies, cuz unless I wind up with a $700 rent (not bloody likely; I'm shooting for under $900 and that's a stretch >.> )I'm pretty much going to be living paycheck to paycheck-- unless I get a healthy raise sometime soonish, or unless I'm grossly overestimating my expenses-- and having my checking account full to bursting will make me feel a lot better about that ^^' And hopefully will mean not touching my savings until I've got an SO and we can get a house or something together, or I have something more than a "job"-- a "career"-- that makes enough for a house XD My CD and savings are for down-payments on a house and emergencies :: nods firmly ::
But anyway. Yeah. Moving January-ish. Hopefully a little further west, where it's cooler, rather than further east, where it's hotter >.> Thinking Oxnard-ish, or maybe Camarillo. My mom says she'll kill me if I live in Ventura-- not that I'll heed her jealousy if it's the only place I can get, though I doubt that'll happen-- and since my job which I love is in Moorpark, I can't really go much farther than that (sorry, Santa Barbarians XD ).
Need cat-friendly place :: peeks at her two kittens, snoozing in the living room to the sounds of Independence Day :: but those don't seem too difficult to come by....
