Canon Character and Series: Uzumaki Naruto, Naruto
In-Game Name: Uzumaki Naruto
Age: 16 17
Gender: Male
Position & Ship: Powder monkey, Winding Way
Appearance:
Naruto could look relatively normal if he so desired. He has an average height for his age, though there's plenty of room left for him to continue growing. He's got himself an athletic build and a peachy skintone, both hinting to activity outdoors. His hair is a bedhead of blond, sticking out all over in a short mess. It hangs just barely into his blue eyes, which are his most expressive feature. He does have "whiskers" on his cheeks, three lines each that stretch across in the same pattern as whiskers on an animal, but he doesn't pay them any mind.
Even if it's not a very ninja (or Steampunk) color, Naruto can often be seen wearing orange. He stands out in a crowd easily, with that bright hair and those bright clothes. He's rather partial to jackets and pants, with shirts and shoes varying. He'll even run around barefoot and shirtless, if he so desires. Black often accompanies the vibrant color, at least as a bandanna that wraps across his forehead. He can also be seen with a pair of goggles, black with orange lenses, whether around his neck or over the top of the bandanna.
Underneath the clothes, across his stomach, is a black seal that contains something much darker than Naruto lets on. The spiral starts just next to his navel, using it as its very center, and swirls out clockwise. Around it are strange markings, almost scribble-like in appearance. Eight marks stand out around it, each different from the other, though still almost like scratches and squiggles. This is, in fact, a seal to contain a nine-tailed beast, Kyuubi no Youko (Nine-Tailed Demon Fox), or simply called Kyuubi. When Naruto taps into Kyuubi's chakra, his appearance will change. His nails and teeth appear to grow sharper, his hair bristling like an animal with raised hackles. His eyes turn a bright, bloody red, while the whisker markings on his face spread out.
Kyuubi itself, or himself, does have a form despite years of containment, which Naruto can see when tapping into his chakra, and those who may have powers that can access his mind will most likely catch sight of it. He is orange-furred with red eyes, surrounded by black markings that stretch up into the inside of his more rabbit-than-fox ears. He's a great monster, all nine of his tails whip-like, muzzle long with sharp teeth, limbs stilted and ending in dangerous claws.
Personality:
Naruto can be seen with a constant smile, or perhaps a scheming grin, often seeming to be in high spirits. He's a prankster and a joker, immature and lazy, cocky like any other teenage boy in the world. If he's center of attention, through a prank or his own honest work, he doesn't care too much. He might seem a little idiotic, but it's just his lack of common sense and wit. When it's important, he can be rather perceptive, but when it's not exactly (or if it involves girls, those'll never make sense), he tends to remain oblivious. Hell, he can even be clever when he needs to be. If it's something he has to learn, he will keep trying and trying until he gets it right, stubborn and unwilling to give up. Even if a plan backfires in his face (which they are sometimes wont to do), he'll just try again.
This carries to promises; if he makes one, sure as hell he's going to do everything in his power to keep it. Even if it's a risk to himself. If someone important to him- family, friends, crew, they're all the same- needs him, then he would never back down without a fight to help them.
Underneath it all, however, Naruto can crash. He can get upset and break out of his smile. It's actually not that difficult to do, but he tries to hide it as often as he can. He's been an outcast, feared by those around him, a science experiment, used for only what many feared. He knows what it's like to be looked at as different, and not in a good way. Pushing those buttons is a sure way to get him to take off the grinning mask. Another way is for those close to him to be upset themselves, or hurt. He'll try all that he can to cheer them up, but he'll still be sad about it.
And then, there's the tenant.
Kyuubi's moods can, sometimes, effect Naruto's, and vice versa. The fox is an animal; feral, possessive, ruthless. He also possesses human-like traits, such as sarcasm and rudeness. He has a resentful respect for Naruto and his father, with Naruto feeling the same. However, if Naruto becomes honest-to-god angry, enough so that Kyuubi can slip out even a hair to cast his influence on Naruto, he will not hesitate to act. Anger and hate are the strongest emotions that can give him access to control, and potentially release from his human-shaped container.
Abilities/Weapons:
Naruto has been trained as a ninja, and despite his wardrobe and loudness, he's actually good at it. He is quick on his feet (and hands, as he can run and leap on all fours), able to jump very high, and does have a decent level of stealth, regardless of how damn loud he is otherwise. Ninjas of Naruto's variety also use chakra, which is, in this case, body and spiritual energy that can be harnessed as power. He also has a knowledge of various weaponry, although is well-rounded in being able to use them, and is not exceedingly amazing at any one thing.
Having both his own chakra and access to Kyuubi's, Naruto has a surplus that is beyond that of other ninjas. He has to ask Kyuubi for his most times, however, unless the situation is dire or Kyuubi would like to further his control. He can use it to walk on walls, ceilings, water, other such things that normal humans should not be able to walk on. Naruto can also use it to create attacks such as the
Rasengan, and perform different jutsu, such as the
Shadow Clone Jutsu.
(As a note, both of these are tamed down for sake of the game. The Rasengan will actually be learned later on in-game, and Naruto will only use the Shadow Clone Jutsu with up to three copies, resulting in a total of four Loud Idiots. The restraints are used to keep him from being over-powerful without risk to himself, considering how he's the damn Energizer Fox Bunny sometimes. ... the Sexy no Jutsu might be seen in some situations [albeit very, very rarely] but yeah.)
With the monster Kyuubi contained inside him, Naruto is a powerhouse of chakra. Naruto can tap into this chakra, and Kyuubi can feed it into him when necessary. This causes enhanced healing. A simple cut or bruise doesn't take days to disappear, compared to a normal human's rate of healing. This doesn't mean he can get a limb chopped off and it heal back on or grow back, no. This also helps if he gets any internal injuries. While it would take days to heal one, and this isn't very good if he's bleeding to death from the inside, it at least keeps him alive enough to get medical attention. Combined with the enhancement and Naruto's stubborn nature, he's a bit of a cockroach.
The chakra can encase Naruto's body, covering him in what looks almost like fiery energy. This is both as offense and defense. While it can heal him when damage is done, it can also burn most anything it touches, though not in a way that sets fire to things, simply burning and destroying. This chakra is also sharable with medic-nin and healers; if Naruto focuses his chakra into his hands where the medic-nin/healer is working, he can help enhance the healing process, so long as they use magic or chakra as well.
Weaknesses:
One of Naruto's greatest weaknesses is a rather obvious one: his personality. He is brash, stubborn, headstrong, and dives in head-first into any situation unless someone calms him down or gives him specific orders. Even then, there's no guarantee that he'll obey orders. He wears his heart on his sleeve almost constantly, and follows his heart more than his head. This leaves openings that Kyuubi will, undoubtedly, take. If Naruto does not control his anger, Kyuubi seeps out and takes control. The best way to anger him is to mess with his friends; they give him strength, but they can very easily be used against him. Loyal to the end, he will stop at nothing to help them.
He'll even risk giving himself over to Kyuubi if it means he can protect them.
While he has the demon fox, if he gets a fatal injury, there's a chance that Kyuubi won't be able to heal it, or at least sustain him until he can get treatment for the injury. Injuries such as a body part being cut off cannot be healed, except to simply be closed to prevent him from bleeding anymore. Nothing can grow back. Decapitation is insta-death. This means the death of both Naruto and Kyuubi, something that the demon fox will not accept.
The thing about the fox's chakra, when it encases him completely with four tails, is that it does burn everything. Including Naruto. His skin is burnt off and grows back in a matter of seconds, a process that continues for as long as he is in that state. The longer it is, the more likely that once he's out of that state, he cannot heal it on his own. It also takes from his own life source, possibly shortening his life and taking from his health, making it easier for him to fall ill for a time afterwards.
There's also the fact that the more tails Naruto has, the more control Kyuubi has over his body. No tails, Naruto's in full control even if he's using Kyuubi's chakra. Four tails, Naruto has no control whatsoever. To get knocked out of the four-tailed state, a specific seal, jutsu, or weapon designed to combat Kyuubi or entities like Kyuubi must be used. If Kyuubi ever reaches nine tails, or the seal finally breaks completely, he's free, and hell is unleashed on the world again. (The seal will, eventually, break down.)

Born in Melior, close to the edge of the city, to Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina, Naruto remembers close to nothing about them. Shortly after he was born, a monster attacked the outskirts of the city. It was a beast of legend, something that was fabled to be able to swing a single tail and it could flatten mountains, bring storms, and burn down everything in its path. Clearly, this monster had to be stopped somehow. After a great loss, Minato stepped forward and sealed the nine-tailed demon fox into his son. Rather than looking at him as the container for a monster, Minato wanted the people of Ivona to recognize his son as a hero.
Ever since, those that knew of what Naruto was treated him as the contrary. The story of Kyuubi no Youko was not shared with their children or a majority of people, of course, but still Naruto was not treated as an equal even among those who didn't know. They saw how others reacted to him, and followed their lead.
Soon after that imprint was left on him, a couple years later he was taken away by Melior scientists. Naruto hardly remembers what happened to his parents before that, but he spent a brief amount of time in a well-guarded research facility. They had to find out if Minato's seal was truly efficient, and there might've been an underlying interest in the powers of the creature contained in the little boy. Confused and rather depressed--who'd want to be treated like a monster or like dirt, honestly?--Naruto managed to pull through by keeping a constant smile on his face. This was aided through a brief friendship with a handful of people, including but not limited to one Hyuuga Neji.
Such friendships were not to last so long in Melior, however. Though he learned many things here as the scientists did, such as the beginning of ninja training and schooling, Naruto was meant to be moved to a different location where the teaching could continue and they could properly learn about Kyuubi. Plus, in another place, he could cause them grief with all his pranks and they could get him out of their hair.
Keywords of that are meant to be. The ship he was on ended up being attacked. This was the first time Kyuubi showed himself, mostly to protect the vessel he lived in to ensure that he could continue living and find a way out. Such a little boy put up a monstrous fight, for quite obvious reasons. Once Kyuubi was calmed and Naruto assured of his safety, he was taken to a very un-lab-like place. He traveled around with these people for a brief time, learning what he could from them, before he was moved to another group. He made friends during his time traveling about as he had when he was in one place, but this was so much better. In Melior, he was surrounded by walls, often poked and prodded and asked questions. That was not the life of a child, nor the life of a ninja.
And it certainly wasn't the life of a pirate.
Though he did finally receive proper ninja training after a time amongst pirates (not enough to move him past the rank of genin just yet), he decided the life of a pirate was quite right for him. In terms of showing people that he could do something, anyways. And he could be both a pirate and a ninja, contrary to popular belief. He honed his abilities with Kyuubi's powers, or tried anyways, and began to progress further. One chakra tail, he was still in complete control. Two, Kyuubi's animalistic mannerisms began to slip in, his merciless attitiude. Three, it started to get worse, and Kyuubi grasped even more control. But it was all right; he still had control. He had his pirate friends, and life was great.
Until he found out that people were after Kyuubi, after other creatures and other people like him. One of his mentors advised him to be careful, to lay low, but that certainly wasn't his style. He did train in this time period, and ended up unleashing Kyuubi's power as he had the first time, but this time... This time it was worse. People were hurt when Naruto reached four tails, and only a special seal created by his teacher could stop him that time. Ever since then, he's been careful to control how much of Kyuubi's power he uses.
After some time with one crew, he met a new and fascinating one. Though they were obviously pirates, it was sort of... chivalrous. They stole from the rich and, while saving a share for themselves, gave to the poor. For the most part. And they were under disguise! It was new and interesting, and Naruto figured it could be his next big chance.
Since then, he's been rather attached to the Winding Way and her crew, going so far as to play pranks with and on crewmates, and adopting them as a sort of surrogate family. A ridiculously dysfunctional surrogate family, but a family nontheless.
