mad men picspam: the fog

I was actually surprised to see Duck return. I just assumed he was let go or quit and that it wouldn't be explained. I was wondering how they would work it out so that Ken wouldn't be dropped from the series. I think it's safe to assume that Pete has more staying power on the show than Ken, but now with Duck at Grey (Gray?) trying to recruit some Sterling Cooper folks it seems that they will explore the goings on of other ad agencies and the competition between them. That could be interesting, or it could also be a disaster, but I am not going to worry about that until I know if this is going to happen.

I don't know what to make of the story line between Don and the teacher. I'm getting a little sick of Don's extramarital affairs; it's just the same old same old. However, if it gets Betty to start looking around herself I might be more interested. And since the introduction of that older guy at the Derby it seems like she's interested. The only thing I wonder is if we see him again will he still be interested in Betty? I sort of got the impression that he might have a pregnant fetish... or maybe I need to get my mind out of the gutter.

Oh. And I didn't even notice Joan in this episode until I was cleaning up the screen caps.

The whole reason I even thought of doing this picspam was Betty's first dream in the neighborhood. It was so beautiful. I didn't get the caterpillar symbolism (?). I thought that she would open her hand and a butterfly would fly out of her hand. I'm not sure if she crushed it or just caged it? Either way, it was as if she was trying to keep it from cocooning which if it wasn't for her ramblings about being a housewife and not trusting Don would scare me for the direction of her character.

Oh, Pete, why do you have to be socially clueless and awkward? He tries too hard and it makes me cringe. But it also makes me laugh.

And the elevator operator saying that "every job has it's ups and downs" was probably my favorite line of the episode. Hee.

Even though I thought that there was probably too much time spent on Don and the prison guard I enjoyed it, and I find it interesting that Don was able to open up to and connect to someone so quickly. I imagine that it has something to do with his past. I saw it more as Don connecting to Dick Whitman (or who he might have been with out the new identity).

This was such an adorable scene and Sally is precious. And that's all there is to say about that.

LOL! Duck was so oblivious to the awkward tension between Pete and Peggy. Didn't he notice Pete's bitch faces?! haha

He and Pete remind me a lot of each other. They are so awkward and clueless and don't really seem to notice it unless someone holds it up to their face. They even look alike at certain angles and with certain expressions.

And my second favorite line comes from Peggy:

Pete: Hey, where are you going?
Peggy: To the ladies room. Wanna join me?

It was all in the delivery though.
