(no subject)

Serious sciency post ahead.

As you might remember, last month I got selected for a new internship position in a research project that will study animal behavior and training. It pretty much combines my biggest interests in biology right now, so I'm pleased. This project is set to start in February and I'll get no holidays or breaks from it until it ends in July, which is a lot of continuous work, but it'll be so worth it:

A) it'll be executed at one of the most renowned labs in my city;
B) the experience will give me a better chance to be selected for the damn tropical island internships I'm so set on doing; and
C) my new internship adviser is the nicest person ever. She already said she wants me to be super involved in the project and she gave me tons of articles to read and she says she'll even include my name in the article when it gets published.

(seeing as how my previous adviser never even learned my name or showed me his project, this is a big difference. Also, since most interns are basically considered walking dishwashers in labs, it's nice to know she'll compensate me fairly for my work)

Best of all is
D) she's gonna let me base my (mandatory) undergraduate thesis on the data she's not using - which basically means I'll have a great subject to write it about and I won't have to go through a lot of trouble getting funding and materials and all that. She is so awesome.

So now I need to write a project that will allow me to use her data. Not only do I now have an activity for the summer, but I can also do it at a leisurely pace because I have all summer to do it.

I am one lucky ducky.
