Why does it still surprise me?
By now you'd think nothing like this would surprise me but I still found myself shaking my head when I just heard the 11:00 a.m. news broadcast on the radio.
There is a no fly zone over Disney World in Florida due to post 9-11 terrorist concerns. Today, a law suit was filed to remove that no fly zone. Who filed? A religious right group. I scratched my head at that one. Wouldn't conservative, funadamentalist Christians be supporters of anything against terrorism? Wouldn't they be the very people who supported bombing the evil Iraqi regime? Wouldn't they be the flag waiving, pro shrub, anti-terrorist folks supporting anything American, including holding suspected terrorists in jail without access to counsel, evidence, etc.? So what in the world would lead this group to file a lawsuit against an anti-terrorism no fly zone? It's gay pride weekend at Disney! The religious group wants to fly planes over the park this weekend flying anti-gay banners. Oh! Well that's a perfect reason to set aside terrorist concerns don't you think? Ugh!
