Not just any TV, mind you, but the stuff I actually taped to watch! This is the first time in 2-1/2 weeks I've felt well enough to watch anything but mindless drivel. I'm so excited about it that I have to post mini-reviews of what I watched while doing laundry. Marvel at how far behind the times I am!!
GA: Addison and Meredith both finally confessed their secrets and the hospital held an M&M on Denny. Poor Izzie. We knew she'd be back though, she's too popular. I hope she eventually deposits the damned check. And I've heard rumblings of George's gaiety in a future epi but I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THIS!!!
*grumbles* Nowadays it seems like every guy who is a little bit sensitive ends up being outed as gay and that's such stereotype-reinforcing crap.
The Doctor: "The Girl in the Fireplace"
So sad! So good, but so sad! I really did cry, tears streaming down my face at the end.
I'm so easy.
The Initiation of Sarah: I thought this was pretty gorram good for an ABC Family movie. The writing was really cute and funny at times and isn't Finn someone from Buffy? Early Buffy? I thought they did a great job of not making it too campy but allowing a little wink now and again from Morgan Fairchild. Tilly was over the top a little but she's good at that. The ending sucked, but that's because they went all action-y and a little dorky. Sounds like they were hoping to get a series started off of it, but I'd only watch if Tilly and Glau made recurring appearances. Or if nothing else was on. I didn't particularly care for the Sarah actress at the end; trying to look all Buffy and stuff I guess. And they should've picked a different white dress, you're not going to attract fanboys wearing a white potato sack under a long cloak.
The Amazing Race: Meh. I still haven't found anyone to root for. They're only as far as Kuwait City on my TV.
Heroes: The one where Peter starts tracking down the cheerleader and the cop pleasures his wife. Peter's the wild card in the deck. I understand there are characters in comics that do the same thing, but not being a comics fan this is new to me and they're using him pretty well. The leaps aren't so leapy that it strains belief but they do fulfill their purpose. I think the fab writing room Kring assembled has a lot to do with it. Plus some really really good actors.
Studio 60: The one where the old guy refuses to leave without the picture. Very heavy-handed preaching by Sorkin, I almost fast-forwarded but the Simon and Matt stuff started and I decided to keep slogging through. I did like the Jordan stuff -- and I do believe she'd be friendless, she's a weird woman, probably spent her whole life with only one or two good friends at a time. The 'black writer' stuff got a little deep, but even knowing where they were going (because it was SOOOOOOOO obvious), I liked the ending of that thread. I hope that means more writing-room stuff - at least then we'd get a chance to hear some of the sketches. The old guy thing -- meh. I liked HIM, he did a great job, but I didn't like the way the character pretended to be demented so he wouldn't get kicked out. I liked the idea of him being a writer who only got one sketch on the air but the ending was so lame...
