Imaginary pimps and edible battleaxes

On friday I went with my family to Chrissy's B-day party with playgroup people. It was likely to be the last good playgroup party in a while, since so many people are going of to college. We ate food, talked, and played ImagineIff. ImagineIff is a great idea for a game but the questions suck. There was lots of sexual innuendo.

Saturday was a fencing demo at the Elmwood Arts Festival. At first there was no one there and I was worried but then someone showed up. We got to see our new location and armory. The armory was better than our old one but the location needs some cleaning up. Doing the demo was cool but a lot of fun. The stage was small so only two people could bout at a time, but we had several people take turns bouting to draw attention before we began the demo. Then I got to be the example foil fencer, Dan was the epee fencer, and Lisa was sabre. then we had electric fencing, two sabre fencers on stage, and me and Jon foil fencing in the parking lot. After that we went back to our tent booth thing near the church and handed out fliers and stuff. I had all the equipment on so that drew some attention, and a few people bouted and drew more attention. Dan taught me how to fence epee, which was a lot of fun. After an epee bout we fenced foil. Our promotional thing ended when it rained. Afterwards Chibi made a character for a D&D game I've been organizing.

Sunday we finished preparation for the D&D game and actually played.
Chibi's character- Halfling Fighter (with a whip) named Bogard
Nemo's character- Half-Orc Fighter (with twin battleaxes) named Krark
Cake's character- Dwarf Cleric to Pelor named Balthor
Acid Stan's charcter- Elf Wizard named Otis
In a stereotypical manner, they all met in a pub. Bogard's backstory provided them with an immediate adventure hook, since his father had been just recently killed by people with wavy shaped daggers and dark magic. He recruited the party to help him track down the killers and Balthor purchased and chugged down ten ales, collapsing in a drunken heap. The carried him too the inn, where Otis talked to the innkeeper (a fairly attractive human female named Marie Cooper, no relation to Nemo)to try to lower the price of the room. Stan rolled a nat 20 on his Diplomacy roll, making Marie lower the price significantly and fall for Otis. Stan was convinced that his character was a pimp. They then checked out the Solarium, which is the temple to Pelor. The healer gave them a tour of the temple, and they met the mission cleric and cheif cleric. during this tour the players made many hilarious Catholic Church jokes, especially when they learned that the mission cleric's last name was Jackson. They heard a lot of suspicion about the woodland shrine to Ehlonna, so Otis infiltrated a meeting that night and determined tehy were not responsible (this move caught me by suprise, I was planning on them remaining suspicious of them). They also met a suspicious fellow named Gerald, and checked out a store where Coop misheard me and thought I had said "They sell three types of food: wine, battleaxes, and scythes" when what i had really said is "they sell food, wine, battleaxes, and sythes". The next morning, they heard that the mission cleric and the sheriff's daughter had been kidnapped, and went to the Solarium to investigate. They saw signs of a break-in, and Otis went back to the Inn to question Gerald, who had stayed at the Solarium that night. After that people had to go home.

The next day we continued our game, and the party went to check the Sheriff's home. There was another break-in and some tracks as if two things were dragged. They went up north to the forest when they heard that Gerald had made a run for it, heading South. The party split up, Gerald was captured and held hostage, and Krark and Otis hurried back up North to catch up with the others. Meanwhile, Bogard and Balthor discovered a discarded sandbag, which had been used to create drag marks at the scene of the the kidnapping. The found the trail of the kidnapper and started after him. Krark and Otis discovered the bag, and caught up with Bogard and Balthor. The group found and confronted the cultists of Baalzebul, discoving that the high priest was the mission cleric who was supposedly kidnapped. They rescued the sheriff's daughter and there was a happy ending. I want to make their next adventure but I should do my summer reading first. Bleh.
