After observing life for a while I have identified the two most difficult things a person can ever do:
1.) Convince yourself that you are worthwhile and valuable
2.) Convince others that you are worthwhile and valuable
This seems to have to do with finding a job (or changing to a better career), in relationships, and pretty much everything else worthwhile in life; especially the first one. I have even heard of drug addicts refusing to try to quit their addictions because they don't see themselves as worth the trouble and the effort.
For a while I had avoided searching for engineering related jobs because I thought I wasn't worth it or that I didn't have the skills or that I couldn't benefit anyone in anyway. However, I will no longer live by those assumptions.
