In PA for the weekend

As you may have noticed from the title, I'm staying @ EU for the weekend, much of which because of the amazing air show that I went to w/Drew today. Went to the air show at the (soon closing :-/) Willow Grove NAS JRB [Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base] in Horsham, PA on 611. Managed to park close to the base entrance, and we were in a good location for watching the show. Earlier on there were a bunch of different stunt planes of various types, doing different manouevers (i like spelling words like this differently on an arbitrary basis, btw), many of which were quite impressive, including many super low passes made. Most of these were between 15 and 100 feet; my excitement for this was helped along by the fact that living in Annapolis (for now), the Blue Angels did practise runs/shows/various passes & turns nearby for the week of USNA commencement. I could have gone downtown there to see the Blue Angels show in Eastport, but was kinda unnecessary knowing that I'd be here today, and considering that I'd seen them flying around the previous 2 days.

Apparently there's a famous pilot who has many landspeed records, who drove what's called the "Shockwave"- basically, this is your standard Peterbilt big rig truck (sans trailer, of course)- with 3 JET ENGINES on the back. This thing was soaring down the tarmac @ 200 mph, as was another smaller dragster that weighs only 2300 lbs. (about as light as the Saturn that towed it). The smaller dragster actually went 320 mph down the tarmac, and has a max. of 480 mph. And back on the 'Shockwave' topic, it's called that because of the way the pilot fires up and quickly cuts out the afterburners on the 3 jet engines, which is ridiculously loud. Then before the Blue Angels, there was the 'Fat Albert', a massive transport jet used for getting personnel out of war zones rapidly- this thing had 8 Solid State Jets. Picture a painted white version of the giant jets used to transport military personnel, and then within a couple of seconds it's making a rapid ascent, particularly for such a large plane of such an enormous payload. *drools* Then the Blue Angels were the final act, in their usual incredible fashion, which meant that many of us were plugging our ears when they'd pass by us near the middle of the runway. *drools again*

Check out the lineup, since I wouldn't remember all the details, and in case ya feel like drivin' over to Horsham, PA for the show all day tomorrow.

And to top it all off today, I took Drew, Sarah & Tory to Springfield/Marple AMC to see Star Wars III. Definitely a good movie, even if it apparently has a number of inconsistencies within the Star Wars 'universe'itself. But it had enough plot and character development to make it worthwhile and be able to see how the pieces fit in w/Episodes 4, 5, & 6. That's all I'll say on that- just go see it. Well now that I'm quite wiped out from being sunburned from sitting outside sans hat/sunscreen (oh well, don't really care), and with a crick back in my neck from looking up to the sky all day. And as I predicted, my computer froze up and likely shut down, since I've been signed off from AIM earlier today. For those who may have left random messages there, ya can't say the away msg. didn't forewarn, so if ya need me call my cell. For as much as I communicate w/people through the internet, I actually kinda prefer getting calls on the cell, since it's usually the fastest way to get in touch with me. But that's just me and my preferences in my context- pce out.
