My gosh. I'm watching something on Univision (the spanish-language channel, of course), with the token swooning singer, with the slick mullet-ish hairdo. 'Vamos a cantar otra..' [gonna sing another], this I hear and think, oh great, an even sappier love song that nobody wants to hear. Earlier they had a bunch 'a folks that went to cemeteries in Cd. Juárez, Mexico [across the border from el paso, tx], and some guy was talking about different apparitions, their shadows and whatnot on various highways and dead people crying in the cemeteries. Definitely very Mexican, and a little ironic that just earlier today I was reading up on "La Llorona", the infamous apparition heard crying over her children that she killed. Yeah. And apparently there have been numerous 'apparitions' over the years and so on, with different mothers who've killed their children by some body of water for various reasons. Odd and a bit out there, yet strangely compelling.
So I have a feeling that this swooner in fact is Alejandro Fernández, who just sang
Serenata Huasteca (lemme know if u actually randomly care to see the lyrics translated, or just go to
babelfish translator), a song that i actually know and recognise. I have the song on a cd, if for some weird reason ya need to hear it..because i learned it this summer @ UDLA. And the only reason why I'm watching Univision @ all, is 'cause i don't feel like watching princess blimpie, whatever the hell her name is, on showtime @ the apollo. Besides, I'm a little more slighted to being entertained by Mexicans over black people w/sometimes questionable talent. I still like black people, but sometimes i like mexicans better..if only for a couple minutes. And now I soon turn off the TV before I stay up all night and watch who knows what on Univision, or before they have some random news-ish program w/incredibly distracting women hosting, with a token male here and there. Odd side note: a few nights ago i lit my virgen de guadalupe candle, [which i have 'ex-oficio' as it is a fire hazard, and otherwise too cool for eastern] and the flame was the size of a booger (all i could think of), and the flame managed to keep burning @ this same size all night. As I was not a responsible candle user and just left an open flame goin', I was surprised to wake up the next morning to realise that it had burned all night long. I mention in passing, as this could fit into the category of one of those mini-'unexplained mysteries', if one were to see it fit to do so for whatever reason.
