It's odd, really, Captain Penis and his fantourage liked used her because she was a vegetarian humanitarian, while he rather liked her in spite of it. And he projected his own goals onto her - we often do, "He will surely like me if I lose a lot of weight", "Surely she shall be happy if I keep playing poker and win her a mansion", and not because we don't know our loved ones - it's just a thing where you lump together all the things you like and assume they cannot come separately.

I do wonder what it would have been like if she'd survived. Do you think she'd have allowed her romanticish emotions towards Billy grow into a relationship? Could she have accepted being Mrs Horrible who achieves her noble goals by applying force? (Galadriel-complex, you know.) Or would she have set up an ultimatum, her or the world? [I think Billy would eventually have chosen her, after much blundering, but that's just because I'm a sap.]
