"Happy birthday, Cash," Queen Vicky smiled, kissing her son on the cheek.

She turned to her husband - King Gabe - who stepped forward to wish his son a happy birthday.

"Happy 18th, son, your present is out in the stables."
Prince Cash beamed, "you finally bought me a horse?!"
"Just go and see," Gabe smiled, rolling his eyes.

Cash kissed his mother and father on the cheek before running out of the palace and across the grounds. He grinned from ear to ear when he saw the large, black stallion tied up in the stable. Cash walked slowly over to him and put his hand under its nose, and then stroked its face. He caught sight of the green writing on the bridle. "Dollar". Cash laughed and patted Dollar's back, and then started to circle and admire him. He jumped when he saw a boy hovering by the stable door. The boy couldn't have been that much younger than Cash.

"Fuck!" he gasped. "You scared the hell out of me!"
"Sorry," the boy blushed.
"Who are you?" Cash frowned.
"I'm the new stable boy."
"The new one? What happened to Andy and Joe?" Cash asked, stepping forwards.
"Oh, they're still here, your parents hired me to look after Dollar."
Cash nodded, "alright...what's your name?"
"Alex Marshall...everyone, except my parents, calls me Marshall though."
"Cool, well, I'm Prince Cash...but you already know that," Cash said proudly, causing Marshall to roll his eyes with a small smile, "right, let's see what Dollar's got in 'im."

Cash was about to try and get on the horse, when he realised that he would fail. Dollar was a pretty big horse for such a small prince. He bit his lip and turned back to Marshall.

"Dude, give me a leg up."

Marshall laughed and made his way over. Once Cash was up, Marshall untied Dollar, and Cash and Dollar trotted out of the stable, immediately turning into a canter as soon as they reach the field. Marshall stood and watched them go from the door with a smile, and then headed back into the stable to change the hay.

"I love this horse!" Cash announced as he came into the stable with a grin, still on top of Dollar.
Marshall put down the wheelbarrow he was pushing and smiled, "yeah, he's a great horse," he said as he tied him back up.
"Help me down."
"Will I need to find you a stepladder for the future?" Marshall laughed, holding out his hands to grip Cash's waist and steady him.

It didn't help. Cash stumbled and fell, bringing Marshall down with him.

"That might not be such a bad idea," he giggled from where he lay across Marshall's chest. "Sorry about that."

They were brushing themselves off when the messenger appeared.

"Hey Suarez," Cash smiled.
"Alright, Cash? Happy Birthday. I was sent to come and get you; you need to get ready for your party."
Cash's face lit up, "oh yeah! I'll be right up."

Cash said goodbye to Dollar, and gave Marshall a wave as he ran back to the palace.

Cassadee - the palace maid - was up in Cash's bedroom. She had his outfit lying on his bed.

"Hey, baby boy," she smiled.
"Hey! I'm eighteen now!" Cash pouted.
Cassadee ruffled his short hair, "you'll always be a baby boy to me."
"You better not call me that around the other servants," Cash said, stripping out of his shirt and pants, "they won't obey me if they hear you giving me a sappy nickname."
Cassadee rolled her eyes as she helped him get dressed, "Cash, you need to stop treating the guys like you do...a lot of them really don't like you."
"I don't need them all to like me," Cash shrugged as he buttoned up his waistcoat.
"How many friends do you actually have?"
"Well there's you, and Suarez, and Travis...and that new stable boy seems pretty nice."

Cassadee gave him a sympathetic smile, but didn't say anything as she finished helping him get ready.

"Have fun, and remember, careful how much you drink...we don't want a repeat of the last palace party."
Cash smirked, "oh, but that was fun - -"
"No, Cash!" Cassadee said sternly.
Cash giggled, "ok, I'll try to behave."
"You better...now go, you don't want to be late," Cassadee smiled, shoving him out of his room.

"Honey!" Vicky called across the hall to her son, who was talking and laughing with his cousins and their friends. "Cash!" she shouted when he didn't hear.
"Cash! Get your ass over here now!" Gabe almost screamed.

Cash sighed and went over to where his parents were talking to a couple and their beautiful daughter.

"Cash, this is the King and Queen of Versa, and their daughter, Princess Sierra," Queen Vicky smiled.
"Hi," Cash waved.
"Sierra is the princess you will be marrying," Gabe told him.

It took Cash a moment to process what was just said.

"Excuse me?!"
"The law, honey, you have to marry a princess once you are eighteen...and since you haven't tried to find one yourself, we have chosen for you. You will be marrying Sierra."
"Uh, no!" Cash scoffed, and Sierra's face fell. Her parents looked mad.
"Cash! Don't be so rude!" Vicky glared.
"But I don't know her...let alone love her!"
"Your mother and I had an arranged marriage, and we're fine."
Cash frowned at his dad, "you just got lucky, it doesn't work for everyone."
"Look, I don't want you to get married either," Gabe whispered to him, "I'm not ready to give up my throne...but it's the law...and your mother is really into this."
"I'm not marrying a princess."

Everyone stared at him in shock.

"I'm sorry, Sierra," Cash sighed, "you're really fucking beautiful and everything, but you're not exactly my type."
Sierra gave him a small smile, "it's alright...I didn't really want to do this either."
"But you have to marry a princess!" Vicky exclaimed.
"I refuse to! I'm fucking gay, for crying out loud!"

Everyone gasped. Sierra's parents pulled her away with disgust. But she flashed a smile as Cash as she went, and gave him a small wave.
"Cash...it's not true..." Vicky stared in shock.
"Sorry, but it is...please don't make me marry a princess?"
Gabe nodded and patted him on the shoulder, "don't worry, we won't."
"But - -" Vicky started.
"No," Gabe glared. "Cash, go enjoy the rest of your party."

But he was too annoyed to go back to partying. He knew his mother would never let the whole marriage thing go, and he also hadn't planned on coming out to his parents - especially at his birthday party! So Cash stalked across the - now dark- grounds; to the stables.

A/N - I hope you all enjoyed this. I have quite a lot of it written, so if people enjoy it, I shall post more later.
