The 30,000 mile checkup/maintainance is due on our car. It will cost $348.95 from the dealership here in town. So far it seems to be the best price, after calling around a bit. It'll have to wait until the tax return comes.
I'm tired. Really tired. When we went to the Doctor's on Friday, he asked a few questions about safety for her five year checkup, including whether or not she knows what to do in case of a fire. In the middle of the night last night, she came into the bedroom in tears and told me she was "thinking about if we had a fire". I talked to her for awhile about it, including an attempt to explain that it's not likely to happen, all about smoke alarms, etc. She wanted to stay with me and still didn't seem completely relieved. I don't sleep well when she's in the bed with me unless it's just the two of us, but I let her stay until about 3 this morning.
She didn't want to go to school today. I think she's starting to feel a little self conscious about everyone and their brother going *GASP!* "What happened to your head?!" I don't blame her. I told her all she has to do is say, "I'd rather not talk about it. Thank you." in a very nice tone. I had her practice it a couple of times. I was willing to let her hang out with me today, if not for school (it's at 2 on Mondays). I probably could have gotten away with bringing her to class with me, but then Geneva would have wanted to stay home too. By the time I got Geneva signed in at school, Avery was already having fun with her class, so I let it go.
Got my homework done. Just finished reading Jon Krakauer's "Into Thin Air". It's amazing and heartwrenching and suspenseful and all kinds of crazy stuff. I had to read it for my writing class. It had me in tears towards the end.
Kirk (the onsite manager) came to look at the dishwasher. He's ordering a replacement. It should be here sometime between tomorrow and Friday. The rats are hiding out in our room. We had permission from the property management company to get them, but I don't want to ruffle Kirk's feathers.
I -still- need to do laundry, but I did get the groceries bought. We were supposed to do laundry last night, but by the time that we got back from my dad's Superbowl get together, it was too late and now I don't have enough time before class starts.
I'm running D&D tonight. Merlin, me, Val (
nightdragongold) and Colin. Should be fun, just hope I can hold out.
