intersections of nerdliness

me: My new defender is based on the sister-killing song.*
travspence: ALL your toons are based on folk songs.
me: ...Only the defenders.

And in fact, the Witch of Endor (dark/dark) is based on the BIBLE. Which is not a folk song. Mostly.

My new defender, who I created because my friend Jenn just got City of Heroes and I wanted to make a support character to play with her, is called "The Drowned Sister." I have never been so glad that CoH offers a face option descriptively titled "Rot." And there are zombie parts, too, which means you can give your character an arm with exposed bone.

She's sonic/sonic, since the drowned girl in the song is made into a harp that plays itself and reveals her sister as the murderer. I put some lyrics from "The Wind and Rain" in the bio, but I may need to make some small edits to make them more appropriate for Paragon City--replacing "County Clair" with "Croatoa," for instance.

I've only gotten her up to level 3--I need to not level her up much further if I'm going to play her with Jenn--but I really like the sonic/sonic defender build so far. travspence says it's the only defender build he's ever been able to solo; I haven't made a lot of defenders, but my empath/electric became pretty much impossible to solo after level 10.

*I refer here to Child Ballad #10, variably titled "The Cruel Sister," "The Wicked Sister," "Two Sisters," "The Bonny Swans," or "The Wind and Rain."

folk songs, geekery, coh, child ballads
