I rearranged my furniture to accomodate the laser printer, and although I totally hated it for about ten minutes, I think it's grown on me. My decoupaged bookcase is now by the archway between the entranceway and the living room, which is nice, because you can see a lot more of the decoupage job than before. I pushed the little wheeled cart where I keep the DVDs over to the left and put the TV on top, so the TV is still in the middle, and now the blood cooler* is immediately to the right of my desk, with the laser printer on top.
Basically, it's like everything moved one to the left, with the bookcase wrapping around to the other side, if you've ever seen my living room. Except that the TV stayed in the middle.
I had to add another powerstrip so that I wouldn't be constantly switching out the printer power cords as well as their connection to the tower. I hope I don't kill the fusebox. Do they sell, like, printer hubs or something so that I could have both of them hooked up at once, too?
I also think I want to get a sturdier piece of furniture than the pre-fab particle board TV cart--it's a relic of the previous tenant anyway, and while TVs don't weigh much so it's probably not actually in danger of collapse, something made of real wood would look nicer. Plus, if it had another shelf or two, I could store ALL of my DVDs in it and clear out the bottom shelf of my bookcase, currently housing all my TV seasons on DVD, for actual BOOKS.
Maybe Michelle will be up for St. Vinnie's next weekend--she wanted to go anyway, and she has a station wagon, which would be nice for transporting furniture. I've been meaning to look at coffee tables again, too.
I only had to move three wall hangings to accomodate the bookcase's change in position--a collage frame of some photos of me with friends from college and
frippy's bunny painting are now in the center of the wall instead of the right side, and I had to shift my print of "Green Cat With Ball" a few inches to the left. The center wall could use one or two more things, I think, now that some space has opened up there--maybe I should move my framed picture of Todoroki Yuu, famous Takarazuka otokoyaku, in costume as the King of Hell.** The cats sometimes mess with it where it is, anyway. I'm also considering a pair of Mucha prints for the closet/cabinet doors. Maybe the Evening and Morning Stars or something.
I've also switched my Princess Mononoke wall hanging to the left of the computer and moved my Mucha print of the Four Seasons from the bedroom to the wall behind the desk. I think it goes well with my new hanging plant, although I'm not sure about its proximity to the fire bunny. Hmmm. At any rate, now I need a poster of comparable size for the bedroom--I think I want a Kinuko Y. Craft print to go with the general fantasy art theme in there.
I love my apartment. I am already worrying about whether I can live here for 2006-2007, too.
*I have a blood cooler, which I find useful to put things on. It's from the Korean War. It's a big olive green square trunk with "HUMAN BLOOD - HANDLE WITH CARE" stenciled in red on the sides, and "IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS" on a piece of paper affixed to the front. It used to have racks and stuff for the storage of dry ice and blood bags inside, but I took those out so that I could store clothes in it.
**Andrea was just remarking on it yesterday. She also said she'd get an LJ. I will harrass her about that tonight.
