The past few days have certainly brought their blessings. Two, in particular. The first being our sweet, little Malachai. So far, he's been joining Pedro and I in bed every night and refuses to leave unless (A) he has to eat, (B) he has to use the litter box, or (C) we both wake up and get out of bed. He's so clingy because he's still less than three months old and his mother was killed when she was hit by a car. Since he's still adjusting to a new environment, new people, etc., he needs emotional support and someone to be around. Thus, he stays as close to the three of us in the house as possible. I'm sure that, in time, he'll come 'round to realizing that we won't abandon him and that this truly is his home.
Also, I'm hoping that he'll eat more and gain more weight as time goes on. He's still incredibly thin; you can feel his rib cage, spine, chest plate, and other bones too easily. I know that runts can be pushed away from a food source many times by older, bigger siblings and I believe such was the case with Malachai. Until we find Boo again, he'll have the food and water bowls all to himself.
It's amazing to me how much of a sweetheart this kitten actually is. He loves to perch on our shoulders and bury himself in me and Terri's hair. He's so calm and gentle....I've only known one other kitten that resembled his personality. I can't help but wonder if this loving nature of Malachai's will remain or if he'll become more independent and aloof as he matures. I suppose only time will tell.
The second blessing is news of my new second job at Sears. I attended orientation today at 5:30 and, surprisingly, it lasted until 8:50. I had no clue that it would last 3 hours and 20 minutes. At least the orientation was productive for me. Jim, the HR manager, conducted it and gave me and the other new hires the information we needed, practically went through the entire handbook in his own words, completed some necessary paperwork, and received our name tags.
A little while after getting out, Pedro gave me a call from Terri's phone; he was worried about me being gone for so long and wanted to know what was going on. I couldn't help but smile and feel so warm inside that he called and was concerned. I love my beautiful baby. ::cartoon hearts appear in her eyes::
So, I'll be returning to Sears early next week whenever I have the time available outside of Sbarro to begin training on the computer and whatnot. I'm looking forward to it and hoping I'll do well. I now have two jobs again and I pray that my finances will improve and that rent and bills will be easier for me to handle.
