Don't blame the world, it's the DJ's fault.

Oh what the fuck, Livejournal.

I typed an extremely long post about the F1 night race and now it's all gone???

I decided to take a break from emotional and life-questioning posts and do a secular post instead. HA. Like I'd ever do that.

But anyway, the Formula One night race has just ended, and although I didn't follow it as closely as I did in the previous two years, I must say, I still enjoyed it.

I remember the first time Singapore was chosen as a Grand Prix, and it was a night race. There was so much hype going on about it, and all I was, was apathetic and skeptical.

Then I recall the first Friday, when the qualifying rounds were just starting, and I happened to be in town and I could hear the buzzing of the engines above the usual noise of the city, and I could smell the burnt tires and somehow, it set the mood. My interest was piqued.

I remember my mum bringing my maid, my sister and her boyfriend and I up to her office on the 27th floor of the Peninsular Plaza, located strategically in Cityhall. Up in her office, we have a good view of about half of the track. I mean, that should be better than being in the stands where you can only watch the cars zoom past you, right?

So we packed food up, and made ourselves comfortable and watch what we can, in the comfort of her office, although, the only drawback is that we weren't really able to keep up with what is happening real-time, because we don't have a TV or commentary. Nonetheless, it was fun. We could hear the engines all the way up, so it was great.

Many Singaporeans are still skeptical about this event. They grumble about the inconvenience caused because of the road blocks. They complain about the influx of people into our country during preceding the event. And while I myself may complain about how my country is run sometimes, I can't deny that I am so proud of Singapore.

2011, f1, singapore
