track is definately hard work..I mean, you need a lot of discipline as an athlete to keep pushing through during the meet and be competitive. I know that for me track is all about reaching my own personal goals and that's because I don't really stack up to the kids who run track, they are so amazingly fast..and this is just from being on the girls team. the boys run sooo much faster. I admire any kid who works hard at it and is successful because it definately isn't easy. And as for short practices..as long as you're working hard and make them worth while you get everything you need out of a 40 minute workout. I mean it is just running after all..so you just have to keep up the intensity and get something out of it. Ummm I hope Imade a little bit of sense..overalI just agreed with you.

ps - swimming is freaking insane..I am horrible at it and am in awe of kids who do it competitively...go swimmers!

"pure form of athletics" - Got that right! The boys track team is really amazing... (Mr. Brogan rocks) and I agree that people who do track and have done it before deserve a ton of respect for their perseverance... that's what struck me the most since I've joined track. People's perseverance is absolutely amazing, and it just increases the amount of respect I have for everyone who does both sports and anything else such as dance or music -- for me, it shows through most in track for the very reasons Angela covered.

SP's marching band receives significantly less practice time than some other bands, but what our directors always tells us is that it's how we use our time that's important. Some other bands are out there practicing everyday after school while we practice once or twice a week, but the difference is that we're actually practicing and not just screwing around and wasting time ( ... )
