This weekend has been pretty great- it even started off AWESOME when the news came to us during 6th period that CREST FORFITTED AND WE MOVE ON TO STATES!!!!! So, next weekend we will be at NC State to cheer on the Whirlies TO A VICOTRY! We are thinking about driving there Friday after school and staying with Jeffries. (We hope)
Anyways, Friday we just stayed at home and relaxed and did some homework- preparing for the long day on Saturday. Angela came to our house at 10 a.m, she made pancakes for all of us- I made the coffee. Angela had a HUGE cooler of food and snacks for the road, then we filled up her tank- and hit the road. Our initial plan was to take 1-40 towards Winston to go to Hanging Rock. Well…. we got a little lost!! So, we stopped at a rest area to find a better map- we all closed the doors and ANGELA LEFT THE KEYS IN THE EGNITION! It was such a bad situation, but we walked all around then FINALLY got help. Some lady who works there, pointed us out to this guy who use to do that for a living (unlock ppl’s cars if they locked their keys in there) It just so happens that he was there that day. But anyways, it took him about 20 min. b/c he said powered locks are always harder to get into. We he opened that door we almost passed out. As soon as we got back in the car and sat down (like with sec. of sitting down) Angela’s phone rang- it was my mom! She said that something was telling her to call and check on us. That was amazing! So, we were back on the road, this time we were pretty close to Mt. Airy- b/c we saw a sign for it, so we went for it. We drove to Mt. Airy. As soon as we got there, we were like crap- what are we going to do if we don’t know where anything is, in order to go hiking. So we stopped in some random little town to ask about trails. You know what- IT WAS MAYBURY where the Andy Griffin show was filmed! Hahaha, we never watched it, but it was still really cool! We find out that there are no hiking trials in Mt. Airy, but we could go to PILOT MT. Finally- we got there and made our sandwiches on in the car on the way to Pilot Mt. We got our “rain gear”, gloves, hats, food and everything in 2 bags. I had one and Angela had one. It was soooo cold at first. We soon warmed up after climbing some of those rocks. The signs say don’t rock climb- we just got off the trials every now and then to get a good view- WHICH NEXT TIME I AM TAKING MY CAMERA!!! We hiked for a while and climbed a whole lot too. So, then we decided to take the “strenuous” trial on the way back. It was just a 2 mile loop instead of a straight shot back to our car. As soon as we got a couple of feet into the trail- it started to somewhat snow, very little and it was not sticking- but it was pretty. Then it started to sleet just a little. We had to be a bit more careful now b/c of the rocks were wet. And we had to put on our “wet” gear so we would not get sick. Somewhere along the trail we met these ppl- 2 guys and a girl. Well, we did not see the 2nd guys we could just hear them. B/c they all had ropes and climbing gear and was ROCK CLIMBING! The two that passed us were like “atch out while you hike- there are some loose rocks.” So we went to the side and looked up- away from the other two. We could hear the 2nd guy talking and heard him say- LOOK OUT BELOW. A pretty good sized rock(size of a soccer ball) fell and crashed. Then he kind of screamed again- LOOK OUT, ANOTHER ONE!!! This one was about the size of on of those big exercise/yoga balls. It was pretty big and it just like exploded. It was pretty amazing. We decided to keep moving- so the conditions would not get worse. We came upon this other cool looking climbing area. Find out that it was a trial that went over top the rocks and skipped about the half of mile that was let to go on that trail. So that was pretty neat b/c at that point we made it back to the car and it started to rain some. We got back in the car and made our way back to G’boro. A good while into the drive we saw the sing- HANGING ROCK THIS WAY! So you know what, we WENT! We stayed there for close to an 30min to 45 min. b/c it was about to rain harder. Anyways, that was a lot of fun too. Finally we made our way back and made it back safely. We were talking about random things on the way back- including what time we should leave on Wed. and what car to take to Duke. I think we will leave 6th period (maybe) and taking Angela’s car- HAhaha- it’s going to be sooo funny pulling up into Duke with her car, hahaha!!! Anyways- we really want to go to the ECU concert on Tuesday, but don’t see that happening. But, you never know……..
We made back to my house and made coffee and watched a movie. We had dinner later on as well- my mom made chili. Around 9:45 Laura came over and we all decided to go see Tacky Court. So we all jumped in the van and I drove- NEVER WILL I TAKE ROBBIE ON A ROAD TRIP, AT LEAST WITH ME DRIVING. He came, but is NOT coming next time. It started off fine- we saw the Yorks up there (Mrs. York and Rachel). Then we made our way downtown to see things- and that is when Robbie got a little too much to handle- maybe he was impatient, idk! We just don’t always get along. We mad it back around 10:45 and called it a night around 11 something. So far it’s been an amazing weekend!! Peace guys….
