Where our heroine thought the day would never arrive...

So, last night, at my Baz Luhrman-themed 26th birthday party, in front of about 25 of our friends, Matt proposed to me.

With a hand-knitted ring, complete with a massive green stone from one of my favourite bead shops, which he'd made himself (with some cunning help from purplesparkler and anord!).

Which he pulled from his pocket, after plonking a massive box down at my feet, which contained a cute little purplesparkler-made box, complete with purple knitted lining...which was empty. Which had me faffing about for at least a couple of minutes, trying to figure out what was going on...before he said, quite cheekily, "Looking for this?", while holding up the ring. Which he put on my finger after giving an adorable speech, and going down on one knee.

I, of course, said yes. The cheer that went up is still ringing in my ears. :D And, I've barely stopped grinning like an idiot ever since.

Cute, eh?! Aw, and here's the ring:

So...yeah. Needless to say, I am a happy wee Cabbage, with the hottest fedora-and-suspenders-wearing fiance in town. ;) Aw, and you know what else is cool? Matt rang up my Mum to ask her blessing beforehand. Old-fashioned though it may be, it makes me fall in love with him all the more. Mama Bear is thrilled to bits. And we had lunch with Dad today and broke the news...and I will carry his ear-to-ear grin with me for a long time to come. :D Good stuff.

Aw, and the party itself, proposal aside, was a success. I went as Claire Danes' Juliet, and my knitted wings were EPIC. If slightly on the large side, and threatening to impale my guests...

excitement, omgengagement!, wedding bells, matt, wow erin's happy, birthday, relationships, piccies, i has a fiance, ezza's little parties
