Would it be possible to do the journalism or radio programs on a part time basis while still working or working part-time?

No. Both courses are full-time, 9am to about 3 or 4pm, and I don't think that they can be done part-time. I may be able to do cafe or restaurant work in the weekends, but I wouldn't be able to continue to work part-time in the civil service- if that what you meant. Plus, the courses are meant to be quite full-on and intensive, so I don't think I could handle doing my current job part-time at the same time!

in terms of career and finances, both of those areas are not known for being the easiest to make a stable living from.

Believe me, dude, this is all stuff I've thought of before! Radio in NZ can be quite a hard industry to break into. But I've known several people who have made a very stable career out of print journalism. It's just a matter of getting your foot in the door. I probably won't end up being a multi-millionaire if I work in journalism- but I don't want to spend a lifetime working in jobs I'm not passionate about, either.

The ideal plan would be to work in the civil service for another six months to a year...and save up a bit more dough and then head back to school. I was just thinking that my contract ending may actually force me to finally get off my butt and go to journalism school. Cos, God knows I've been um-ing and ah-ing long enough. I am, however, aware that it's not the most ideal option from a financial standpoint. These are all things I have to think about.

I'm sorry if I sound a bit brusque here. But...I am pretty worried, and I've had several anxiety attacks today thinking about it. I'm trying to stay positive. But, in all honesty...I'm scared shitless.
