Things (like a walk in the park...:P)

First of all, huge celebratory hugs for yesterday heading mickwanny's way! Happy Birthday, ya old git. His words, not mine...:P

Secondly, for your reading pleasure, here's a wee bit of meme-age, yoinked from my favourite meme queens labellementeuse and miriamus:

When you see this, post a bit of poetry in your blog.

The Magpies

When Tom and Elizabeth took the farm
The bracken made their bed
and Quardle ardle oodle ardle wardle doodle
The magpies said

Tom's hand was strong to the plough
and Elizabeth's lips were red
and Quardle ardle oodle ardle wardle doodle
The magpies said

Year in year out they worked
while the pines grew overhead
and Quardle ardle oodle ardle wardle doodle
The magpies said

But all the beautiful crops soon went
to the mortgage man instead
and Quardle ardle oodle ardle wardle doodle
The magpies said

Elizabeth is dead now (it's long ago)
Old Tom's gone light in the head
and Quardle ardle oodle ardle wardle doodle
The magpies said

The farm's still there. Mortgage corporations
couldn't give it away
and Quardle ardle oodle ardle wardle doodle
The magpies say.

So much love for that poem. It makes me smile. :P Always good to be pimping New Zealand poetry, wouldn't ya say?

Thirdly, on the subject of poetry, I'm proud to display my sexy new icon-age, coutesy of both Tui and posticonic! The quote is from the poem Full by Bill Manhire, one of our creative writing gods, and I must say it describes me and my thought-life rather accurately...

Forthly, there was a rather bizarre thing on Classic Hits this morning (can't find MoreFM on the dial after my radio conked out on Monday. *pout*), in which they had women calling in and getting them to say what they're most interesting thing they craved while they were pregnant. Some of the ones they got were, I kid you not, coal, burnt matchsticks, vaseline, soap (imagine picking that out of your teeth...ick) and sand...and one of the DJs swore she'd heard of a woman who ate grass. Hmmm, I guess there's quite a few decent minerals in there, that every expecting mother could do with. Another woman rang up and said she got high off the smell of cow manure, and another said that she'd never touched a cigarette in her life before, but yet she smoked the entire way through her first pregnancy! Yeah, cos that's going to produce a healthy baby...

Man, I thought my mother craving cold custard (custard pies, custard squares etc. *drool*) when she previously detested the stuff was impressive. :P Here's hoping my body won't be crying out for anything more than chocolate bars at 2am...

Fifthly, I'm feeling loads better about work than I was over the weekend. Have just had a couple of good days, so I'm not exactly feeling like I'm wanting to fire-bomb the place anymore. I have, however, bought me a paper, so will keep you posted if anything halfway decent jumps out at me.

Sixthly, discovered during a rather angsty text conversation with miriamus, during which we were discussing something that was said on lj which heartily pissed me off, that I really am too critical for me own good. Well, duh, I kinda knew that already, but I did get rather a slap in face with the realisation that I really do need to give people a break now and then. Pobody's Nerfect, we all stuff up, I've said things I ain't proud of in my time, so really, Erin, it's time to stop being such a wanker, yes? *condescending pat on the head* Glad we cleared that one up...

Seventhly, cashews are yummy. Mmmmm, nutty, salty, HDL-y goodness....

Eigthly, WELLINGTON IN TWO DAYS!! *hyperventilates*

Ninthly, I am SO FREAKING SICK of the latest Feelers song, y'know Stand up and be counted, the one that really wasn't anything to write home about to start with, but really, wouldn't you say that once every hour or so is just a little excessive? *stabs* The Feelers' old school stuff was by far superior, although The Fear is cool.

Maybe I'm getting burned out from commercial radio in general...although I did listen to Kiwi very briefly last night, and so far me likey! :P

On that note, has anyone heard Streets of Love by the Rolling Stones? *shivers down the spine* Gorgeous....

Tenthly, I really need a shower. Feeling like I've a thin layer of cooking oil covering my scalp, and it's itchy. Ew.

Eleventhly, I can't believe this is my second time posting in three days...w00t!
