Well, several things came out of my last post...one of them being that there doesn't seem to be any quick-fix solution to the problem of abortion. I've no idea why I'm making an entry out of this, but oh well.
*We decided that making it illegal isn't going to do it...as
sixth_light pointed out, that will not stop abortion, but will only lead to a higher rate

The problem I think we're having is that from my point of view, although an unwanted pregnancy may not always kill the "mother," it is still damaging to her life. And, you know, props if you can get around that and love the baby and everything, I truly admire someone who is able to do that, to raise a child in that situation. But... I can't justify that kind of damage to someone's life, in whatever situation, especially when balanced against a procedure that from my point of view really isn't immoral, or a problem in any way. I think the abortion rate is telling in that it says a lot about how we handle contraception and conception in New Zealand, and in that sense, yes, it's a problem... but the abortions themselves, to me, are not a problem.
I really wasn't meaning to attack you; I was simply trying to present a different view, of the mother's right to life, which I think is what often gets neglected in this kind of debate... I mean you can argue for years and years about whether an abortion is murder or not and people just aren't going to change their opinions no matter how hard you try, because this debate has become intensely emotionalised, rather than rational. So the only way to bring rationality into it- from my point of view- is to consider it from another perspective from which we can be rational.

The article sort of talks about how abortions are every bit as damaging as the unwanted pregnancy itself...but don't let it sway your views in any way, if it's not what you believe.

I think we discussed this on your journal at one time. I still believe that, even if the pill isn't 100% effective, it still decreases the risk.

I doubt my opinion will change either. That said, I want to be willing to consider the gray areas that go with abortion, as opposed to just seeing it as a purely black and white issue. So, I do appreciate everything you guys have posted, even if it may not seem that way. A study though...maybe I'll do a Master's thesis on abortion in literature, that'd be cool! :D
As for icons...I'm looking for a Moulin Rouge one. I'm also hoping to make one that got an Irish dancer, and like an Irish phrase...I'll have to think of one though. There's a picture on this site from Riverdance, that I really love:

And, if you want a job at Whitcoulls, then by all means hand your CV in, we are always accepting them! I've worked there nearly 3 months, and I find it's a cool place to work.
