Well, several things came out of my last post...one of them being that there doesn't seem to be any quick-fix solution to the problem of abortion. I've no idea why I'm making an entry out of this, but oh well.

*We decided that making it illegal isn't going to do it...as sixth_light pointed out, that will not stop abortion, but will only lead to a higher rate ( Read more... )

1) I'm guessing you got carried with the devil may care attitude bit? Not sure what you meant there.

2) There actually are some non-Catholic Christians that are against contraception, seeing as it's selfish, looking out for our own interests, and prevents God from being the Authour and Giver of Life. Bollocks, I say, for two reasons.
*God didn't just design sex for procreation, He designed it to be the ultimate expression of love for a married couple. There's a whole book in the Bible dedicated to it! So it's like what are married couples going to do if it's not God's plan for them to start a family just yet?
*So it's really God's plan for us to develop full-blown AIDS? So it's really His plan for us to contract some other infection, that will leave us infertile and unable to conceive? Nuh-uh. And don't you just love the argument used by some Christians that you won't catch an STD in having unprotected sex in a marriage, because you will both be virgins, and therefore there'll be no risk? Not always the case. Not all Christians are virgins when they get married, I know of plently had multiple sexual partners before becomming Christian.

1) I got a bit carried away in the use of condoms etc. just to prevent pregnancy, and didn't really say anything about STI's.

2) http://www.alysion.org/truelife/faq.html. I found that particularly amusing. I also found this here: http://www.victorious.org/sex.htm. Looks pretty good from what i've read so far.

I think the whole idea that the catholics are against it because it does not allow for the possibility of conception. If God wants you to have a child you will! I know a couple who got pregnant while she was on the pill and he was using a condom. Mary was a virgin for crying out loud. Silly reason there! But yeah youre right. It does have other purposes!

Yeah, that's true, but there's still the disease factor...
