Nuclear Devices on sale at aisle 3

I was assigned to Cebu earlier this year. I dont really remember how it happened but i know it involved my boss calling me in the middle of the night and telling me im going and all I could muster was a sleepy "yay". I have never been to Cebu and despite almost everyone I know telling me its no different from Manila, I landed at the airport half expecting to see cows, goats and rice paddies.

Day one was a bit of a blur as we (I had another trainer with me) didnt know where the staff house was. We ended hanging out at the office building.

My first meal was Beef Stroganof at Ila Puti. Not the best in the world but lets just say there's something in the restaurant that made the meal very satisfying. =)

The staff house turned out to be very nice. And the best part was, the company will be paying for everything for the next five months!

June, some friends came over to visit.

I took them out to see the sights.

It was at this time that I started thinking of staying here. Not as a Manila Trainer on loan but as a Cebu resident. Far be it for me to start identifying the pros and cons of anything but I still made a list. The cost of living is cheaper, the atmosphere is laid back, and the people I work with are some of the best at what they do. On the other hand, this is the farthest I have been away and alone from home. I told my mom first about my decision and after some attempts to discourage me, she eventually gave in with a "if thats what you think is best for you".

Fast forward to August. I am now an official resident of Cebu. No longer living the life of a freeloader at the staff house but still very comfortable where I am. Work is still hectic but I have learned a lot and found out that I also have a lot to share. I feel like I, after what seems like years of sedentary existence, am flourishing.

I only found out this morning how different I felt compared to a few months ago. As I turned off the shower and wiped the warm water off of my face, I realized I had been singing.

Who knew how prophetic I had been when a sleepy me talked to Lyra last January. "Yay" indeed.

Parting thought: Bought an electric fan for my room the other day ( I wanted to save on electricity) and saw the strangest display:

notice the Radiation Warning signs on those things? Odd..
