“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Kurt…”
Kurt cocks an eyebrow and looks at him unimpressed.
“And why is that, Blaine? We only have to go and take a look at this flat!”
Blaine takes him in, standing in front of him, right in the light splashing through the window of their small room, hip cocked and beauty written all over the lines of his body. He passes a hand through his own messy hair, fingers getting tangled in curles.
“It’s…”
And how do you say to the love of your life that even after all the years spent together he still is so astoundingly important that you’re still scared for him to realise that you’re not enough when he shines so bright, like ten suns and eleven moons at least?
“Isn’t it a bit too soon to look for a house all for ourselves?”
They have been sharing a flat with Rachel and Finn for the past year and, even though privacy is something rare, Blaine likes it. Of course there are days when he tries to picture the house he and Kurt will have in the future, elegant and full of light and of Kurt, the place where they will build their future together, where maybe there’ll be a little boy or girl one day.
Blaine wants it so much that sometimes it hurts, a small compact ache at the left corner of his heart, but the memory of their break up a year and a half ago is still fresh with all the tears and confusion and promises that it brought.
Kurt sighs and sits beside him on the bed. He doesn’t look at Blaine when he speaks.
“You…you don’t want…”
And there it is, the delicacy that is hidden in Kurt’s heart and that sometimes Blaine still forgets, swept away by Kurt’s determination and strength of will.
Blaine quickly reaches out, his hand finding Kurt’s without the need to look, warmth against warmth, muscle memory and ever growing love.
“I want it, Kurt. I want all of it with you.”
And maybe he doesn’t say it often enough because once the words are out there, once Kurt is looking at him with wide azure-grey eyes Blaine finds himself breathless.
“So…”
Blaine looks as a tentative smile tugs at the corners of Kurt’s lips; he wants to make him smile more, he wants to make him smile every day of their lives.
“So we can go and take a look at that flat.”
Kurt hugs him then, warm hands pressing between his shoulder blades to pull him closer, smile pressed against Blaine’s cheek.
“I swear I am going to marry you.”
Blaine hugs him back tighter, Kurt’s promise caressing his heart, and he is sure the love he feels for this man could fill universes.
