Harry Potter| Christmas morning

Dec 19, 2011 14:14

Morning light splashes over the blankets; it makes him think of milk. Even though he can already hear  Ms Weasley pottering around in the kitchen, under the blankets  it’s warm and cozy and he doesn’t feel like going down stairs just yet or going back to the guest room, where he actually was supposed to sleep last night.

He has always loved spending the holidays at the Weasley’s- the warmth and the smiles universes away from what he had experienced back at the Dursley’s- but this year there’s something more.

He slips his glasses on and turns to look at Ginny. She is still sleeping, her hair scattered on the pillow like flames, like promises. He has dreamt of falling asleep by her side so many times, that this almost doesn’t feel real. There have always been so many things to keep them apart- their own uncertainty at the beginning and the chase for the Horcruxes after.

A shiver runs along his spine at the thought that he has been close to losing her so many times. He remembers how comforting it was to think about her before closing his eyes at night- not even the great distance between them could prevent that small flame in his heart from burning. Because he wanted nothing more than go back to her, hold her close and promise her that he would never leave again.

And now he is here- the nightmare of the past year has left scars and the pain for the people they lost is still there, but Harry feels reborn nonetheless.  A smile stretches his lips at the thought that all of them are finally experiencing what being a normal teenager means, what happiness means. He allows himself to trail his fingertips over the smooth skin of Ginny’s shoulder blades.

They’ve just started to explore each other, to discover places that neither of them had seen before. The way Ginny’s mouth fell open in a perfect soft circle when he slipped one uncertain fingers in that warm place inside of her still burns in his retina.

He has fantasized about this so many times, but to see her, lying beneath him, her eyes almost shining in the half light of the room, her skin pale and perfect has been something else entirely. To be with her like that made all the world around them disappear, leaving place to a feeling of warmth and happiness, like bubbles rising up from somewhere deep inside of him.

Goosebumps blossom on his skin as he remembers the feeling of Ginny’s fingers around him, curious and gentle and mind blowing. Harry gulps down mouthfuls of morning air. Beside him Ginny stirs, her hand falls on his stomach, warm and now incredibly familiar.

When she blinks and opens her eyes, Harry feels something stirring inside of him- something he has never felt before. He thinks he is happy that Ginny is the one who makes him feel like this for the first time.

“Good morning.”

Her voice is still latched with sleep, soft and low, and Harry really wants to kiss her.

“Good morning.”

She smiles and dimples appear at the corners of her mouth. Harry leans down and presses a kiss over both of them. Ginny giggles softly before scooting closer; her lips are almost brushing against Harry’s as she speaks.

“Happy Christmas.”

Harry smiles and simply kisses her, because there’s no need for  words.
