civic duty

I'm a "good citizen".

Like many on my friends list, I voted today.

I am rather fond of the new tri-lingual "I Voted" stickers here in San Mateo County. And I like my polling place being right downtown in the city hall lobby. When I gave my address, one of my poll workers said, "hi neighbor!". Apparently she lives on my street. I thanked the lovely ladies for working the polls, knowing it is not as simple as it may seem. [especially after hearing from trinsf exactly what goes into it] Then I pulled out the little note sheet I'd made myself, quickly connected the little arrows on my ballot with the provided marker and made my opinions official.

I'll soon have to register to vote in a whole different county. I haven't decided to which party I will tell them I belong when I do. I've always had mixed feelings about political parties, though I am currently registered "libertarian", I'm considering trying something new. Though I decidedly do not feel as if I belong to the current Republican and Democratic parties. It's definitely something to think about. Especially as we have the primaries in June.
