A distant scream broke the silence surrounding her, followed by a weird yipping laugh and she froze before spinning around, staring hard into the darkness behind her.
Super creepy!
But she saw enough to realize that it wasn’t demons or vampires.
It was worse.
Frat boys.
Snort. But obviously she met the frat boys I went to school with. Entitled little shits.
“Cordelia?” he asked tentatively. “What are you doing out here? You don’t camp.”
LOL! I love how everyone knows her camping preferences. I'm also a little worried at how many other crimes these guys have perpetrated while camping.
“That’s right, Cornell Chase, who is right this very minute wondering where I am-“ from Italy-“So be good boys and run along before I start getting the urge to confide in him about who he should and shouldn’t do business with.”
The distant sounds of their trust funds being flushed down the toilet prompted all four boys to do the right thing.
This is perfect BTVS Cordy, knowing just how to manipulate people to get what she wants. Girl was born with a PHD in psychology...
Maybe he liked her after all.
...except when it comes to BTVS Angel. ;) I love how this ties in later to the "spark." That unconscious spark is the only way she'd have approached a post-Hell Angel, not knowing whether he was still Angelus. She can't see him clearly b/c she's either feeling too much for him or blocking her feelings for him entirely.
When she opened them, Angel was crouched in a dark corner like a gargoyle, looking at her, wearing only a tattered pair of pants that had seen much better days.
Such a strong visual! Sexy and repulsive, all at once.
It was furniture, covered in canvas.
She suddenly knew where they were.
I love your descriptions of her returning to consciousness and gradually realizing where she is, from when he's carrying her back, to when she's waking up to now. It's hard to write those, so they make sense and feel real but these all do. And better, they locked me even deeper into the story.
The rough cloth of his pants rubbed against her inner thighs, reminding her painfully of how she’d imagined this happening the previous year, before he lost his soul.
Um, hello. Squirmy now. Jesus, this sex scene just blew my doors off. Gentle and hot, and then rough and hot. And more than a little bad/dirty/wrong. I still haven't caught my breath!
And I love how your bring it back down to trust between them. Yeah, (and I can't stress this enough! ) the sex was great, but what it all comes down to is blood, trust and companionship. And you caught all that and then some.
I gotta go read this again, like right now!

It would never feel natural not to have Cordy and Angel, first and foremost, react to each other with trust and friendship.
And I think if Angel hadn't been getting that beat down, she never would have approached him without knowing if he was souled or not, but that girl, you know if someone's in a vulnerable position (preggers Darla), she assumes they're helpless. Bad assumption, Cordy.
Thank you, bb!
