With no notice at all, after years of promising us with the beneficence of a new kitchen our landlady has thrashed our present kitchen to replace it with a new one.
Only one thing wrong with this scenario. It's been three days since when the new kitchen was supposed to be finished and we're still stepping over unfinished cabinets and rubble when we put the kettle on in the morning.
With the solem promise from the builder, who we shall call Tom, that the new kitchen would be fitted and painted in a week he set to work , when he can decipher the units assembly instructions, every other day, when he can find the parts and not before 9:30/10:00. We see him some mornings in the local cafe from about 7:45. Well, yes, it does take him an hour or two before he gets to our place but he's a big lad. he needs a big breakfast to keep his strength up.
So we have our new kitchen. Well, not yet but it's on it's way:D I admit it's difficult wading through rubble and walking round Tom when we're trying to prepare food but we're game. Only now we discover that the water's to be cut off while Tom as he says can: "finish the kitchhen". I can't say that statement assured me overmuch.
