Had a whirlwind of a week.. Ate at restaurants for lunch/dinner pretty much everyday, which burnt a substantial hole in my wallet (I voluntarily surrendered ALL MY ANGBAO MONEY and kept only 100 bucks to buy running shoes.. T.T). Is taking a toll on my digestive system - especially the XLB steamboat buffet which made me LS until my AHP the next day -.- On the days I had dinner at home, I ate at crazy times like 10pm (just now) and 12 midnight :O Is very bad and very fat.
Yesterday I went for my Korean placement test at the main campus... Er it wasn't as owning as I thought it would be la HAHA I overestimated my ability (and underestimated my reliance on the trusty dictionary). The invigilator spoke entirely in Korean and the instructions were all in Korean, so I was in awe - you must understand that this is the first Korean examination I'm taking, so it was a pretty novel experience. The grammar part was all about editing - I barely scraped through that part, but hopefully the back will be better. We had to write two essays, one about what we did the day before and the other about a travel experience. I tried to be smart and wrote crap like 'Though I don't like Bae Yong Joon, I like Nami Island.' V good and wow without dictionary is really jialat.
The oral examination component was pretty surprising as well. I thought they'd give us a passage to read, but it was entirely conversational. Er it was only then that I realised I'd never actually conversed properly with anyone in Korean before. And it was also only then I realised that I am incapable of stringing sentences together on the spot. So she asked me questions like 'How long did you formally study Korean for?' (I answered 'March'; like I said 三月 instead of 三个月 T.T) and 'How did you find the examination just now?' ('Difficult.' 'What was difficult about it?' '...') So basically I understood her but threw only random words out in reply wow I must have sounded very rude.
Anyway the last question she asked me was 'What is your ideal type of guy?' HAHA I THOUGHT I HEARD WRONGLY LEH then i said 'AHH?' and she repeated the question. Then I really wow and this question I gave a very fluent answer ('Must be tall, skin must be good, eyes must shine when he smiles') She is quite funny la hahaha mm okay so results out on Friday, hope my timetable doesn't screw up :/
After that I went Bugis with Weiqi who also took the test, and we met Meiyu Lingyee and Marilyn for dinner at Tong Shui Cafe. Angela and Sam joined us, and then we slouched and stoned around the area for a bit while waiting for Meiyu and Lingyee to finish their manicures, and everyone headed to 记得吃 for dessert. I ate until I got acid reflux leh then wow never in my life have I felt so uncomfortable.. And the durian double boiled milk is not as nice when you have to finish an entire bowl on your own :/
The last time I visited 记得吃 was on Monday, when we had JC class dinner at this Korean restaurant in Iluma, that monstrous silver thing beside Bugis Village. I won't name them because the food there was so... wow is worst Korean food I have ever had, and you know I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to anything Korean. MY BIBIMBAP 12.50 INSIDE NO MEAT LEH. NO MEAT >:O After that we went 记得吃 and I had 芝麻糊 (that's my instinctive choice of dessert), and then the class splintered and I walked down to Little I with JS and Faith to NEL home. Anyway here's a photo we took.. I'm inserting it just so the post won't be all words la haha.
Tuesday I met Ling for NB at ParkMall and then we had Korean and walked down Orchard, ending up at Cedele Wheelock for late tea. Ling got her fringe trimmed by a dude whose hands have touched SHG's hair before. I am in awe but this probably means that her hair-washing frequency will further decrease. After that followed her home and watched Shining Inheritance which epitomizes Cinderella drama down to a T.
On my birthday I went for NB, then slept the afternoon away (don't need to tell me how loser I am, I already know), then woke up to teach tuition and then went down for the XLB buffet at HollandV. We ate until I couldn't get rid of the want-to-puke feeling for the next 2 days.
Thursday I woke up to go for NB, but then the aftereffects of the bloody 麻辣 caught up with me and then I was immobilized till late afternoon. I'm not going anywhere near chilli for the next couple of years leh seriously. Then I left the house to meet Charlotte at T1 for Hi-Lo (Aerobics) but it was cancelled so we did Yogasana which is really quiet and zzzz. I almost zzzz-ed but someone in the class burped is very no manners. Then I wanted to go for the bollywooddance class but then C very embarrassed by the movements so we went to run. Dinner after that was at Bakerzin where we ate until VERY FULL even though not hungry and then we went her place to do many masks and I kept lying down to rub my very traumatised stomach.
Yes that wraps up my very food-filled week. Oh and last Sunday the place I work at treated us to buffet at the hotel opposite the building down the road from PS (sorry must be vague). It was very 不好吃 but I ate more than Dom and Rich (combined, according to Dom) anyways.
Btw F.T Island's Vol. 3 is out, and they really are super talented for a bunch of ginnahs. Ginnah sing rock ballad can sing until so nice leh you got hear before not.
