17. Conquest '09

After hearing reports about the goings on at Melbourne High from former students, I was suprised at how respectible it looks, but looks may be decieving. Melb High is the venue for Conquest, a four day Roleplaying Convention over the Easter Weekend.

First thing I notice when I enter is the mass of World of Darkness books for sale. Not New WoD, but the classic World of Darkness. The books which you are hard pressed to find. I cried at the cost it would be for them all, but not so much as I am now at the fact I didn't get them. The fact that I didn't get proper contact details is making finding them dificult, but I will get there, and get those books I want so much.

I also experienced my first roleplay session. This is from a person who has a sizable RPG book collection. It was a freeform RP based on the PC game Fallout. Basically everyone was in this big bunker for 60yrs when a message is recieved asking to open the doors. Basically a boxed 'Murder Mystery' style of game, but in a locked room, and it's not about the deaths (though they do impact on the story). Each person had a character description, with goals and what the character thought of the other characters. If it wasn't on the handout you got, then the character does not know that, but might find it out by conversing with the other characters. Success depends on what goals your character manages to achieve, based on interactions with other character. Characters can steal from, flirt with, pursuade, or kill other characters.

All in all, a good day. But I'm kicking myself that I left those books there.
