My father here has drank the milk every day. [He sounds terribly sad about it, but also notable is the use of the term 'father' and how he doesn't shy from it.]
And while I know he's done it to help me, I'm worried. For this whole town, really. And if there's anything anyone needs... I could get them, please don't hesitate to ask. This is truly a traumatic time for everyone; and something no one should have to suffer alone.
Though I have been here two weeks now, I hardly feel more settled. I don't want to settle, necessarily, as letting my guard down at all here seems like it would be a grave misstep. But some seem to have... come to terms with this place.
Perhaps I need to do the same.
