If you weren't doing the job you're currently doing, where would you be? What would you be doing?
I can’t imagine not doing this job; it’s been my life for two decades. I don’t even remember wanting to be anything else in life. Well, I wanted to be a cowboy when I was a little boy, but even then I would proudly fix my plastic “gold” sheriff’s star to my waistcoat. There is no alternative universe where I would be anything but a Head Detective, leading Santa Barbara’s finest in law enforcement.
[locked] There was a time when my path became a little unclear. My father was killed on duty, and I… acted out. Chief Fenich soon set me back on the straight and narrow, but for a brief time, without the prospect of law enforcement and no other ambitions, I floundered.
Somedays, I wonder if it hadn’t been for the Chief, could I have become Him? [/locked]
