Springboard: Carved Up

Talk about the worst injury you've ever had on the job. Whether it be a physical or emotional blow... or both!

I've gotten the odd bumps and scrapes over the years. We all do in this job. Pushed down my suspects, tacking someone down, and so on. My first major job related injury was a few months ago. A suspect pulled a gun on me, pinned me to the wall, and took me out. I lost about eight hours of my memory. I still haven't recovered my memory from that day.

My most recent injury was an attack I never saw coming. I was outside my consultant's office when I was attacked from behind. My attacker was a man I'm only vaguely familiar with, goes by the name Vincent. He's six foot to six foot four, gray hair and roughly 250 pounds or more. You New York cops will want to keep an eye out, he claimed to work at New York University, psychology professor. He came up from behind, held a knife to my back and carved an R into it.

We're getting no where in Chicago. My partner, Kirmani, he's been working his ass off on this and I know it's hard on him. It's time we reached out and started to ask other cops if they know the guy. New York, I'm specifically asking you. He's talked to be twice since then. I think we're playing a game of cat and mouse. Don't ask me which one I am, I think it's obvious. I'm just looking for people to keep an eye out for him. You don't attack a cop and get away with it.
