Having played through the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed demo a few times, I can say it's pretty fun. Not sure I'm prepared to drop three Jacksons for it, as it doesn't look like it's going to have much replay value - maybe a rent. I guess I've just got a few issues with the entire concept of the game. First off, the name sucks - especially for a project that supposedly fits in canon between Episodes III and IV. I know Haden Blackman said something like "This game is all about kicking someone's ass with the Force," but come on...The Force Unleashed? In addition, the lightsaber does not dismember, as opposed to all of the films. With the exception of Episode IV, all maimings in the films were immediately cauterized, allowing for the action to stay PG-13 and under. If Jedi Outcast got away with dismemberments, The Force Unleashed could, too. "Starkiller" is ridiculously overpowered, even for Star Wars. Using Force Push and Grip propels just about everything smaller than a TIE Fighter faster than a bullet from a gun. Also, during one point in the demo, a context-sensitive minigame (a la God of War) allowed me to slice an AT-ST clean in half. Come on. Don't get me started on the trailer where he singlehandedly brings down a Star Destroyer. If "Starkiller" is this powerful, why the hell is he Vader's apprentice, and not the other way around? I know the story, and I know Vader practically raised him, but come on. I also know what the surprise twist is and I'm pretty eager to see how it plays out.
Denis Dyack can't be happy - after about a decade of development and hype, Too Human is not being received with the accolade everyone has been expecting...at all. Maybe this is a bummer, but certainly not for my wallet.
Finally got around to seeing Casino Royale, and I'm definitely looking forward to Quantum of Solace, now.
