Winter Indoc

So this weekend was winter indoc with teh army.

We went to Meaford, got there on friday night around 11:30 - 12:00. Went to our tent seite, set up our arctice tents, got the stove and lantern going, and then hit the sack at around 2:30. got up at 5 and began the day.

The point of winter indoc is to become accustomed to living in the winter and cold conditions. Well, lemme tell you, it was fucking cold. During the day it was -22 but felt like it was -30. So the day consisted of going to 4 different stands. At each stand we had to set up our tent, have a lecture, and then take the tent down again, pack it in our tobaggon, and then pull teh tobaggon to the next stand and do it all over again. Our first stand was sno shoeing. So we learnt how to snow shoe and all that crap, and we walked around a bit to practice. It wasn't the most facinating or fun but it was alright. I had one crappy snow shoe where my foot kept falling thro the gap and i would end up walking on my toes, it really sucked. Oh as a side note, everytime we moved stands, we pulled the tobaggon AS WELL as had our rucksacks one, and mine weighed oh..probably a good 40 pounds maybe.

anyways, the second stand was cold weather first aid. It was a review of the stuff we already knew like hypothermia, frostbite, snow blindness, windburn , sunburn, stuff like that. So after that stand we went over the the Snow defenses and improvised shelter area. Now, when we got there, my left foot was pretty cold, so i started trying to move it around and get it warmer right. After we finished setting up the tent i wiggled my toes and it felt like i had a peivce of snow or ice inbetween my big toe and second toe, and it felt like i had punched my foot thro my firs tsock and it was pulling like inbtween my toes. So i went to change my socks, and that cold peice of ice in my boot wasn't there at all, IT WAS MY TOE! Boo on that. So a buddy looked at mym foot and my toes were a little puffy and red, which is begining stages of frostbite, and my heal and ball of my feet were already white, so i stayed in the tent for about half an horu until my foot warmed up and the frostbite went away. Then i jsut went outside and start building a snow defense with teh rest of the guys.

The last stand was cross countyr skiing, which absolutly SUCKS with a 40lb rucksack on your back. So we finished that stand, went back to our tent site, set up and just layed back, drank hot chocolate and warm juice all night until the next morning. Got up and had a competition of everything we learnt during the ex. Which was basically tent down, move, tent up, skiing, first aid, tent down and back to the beginig. It was pretty long and took a good hour if not longer. Oh, we almost burnt the tent down and all died at night too, but thats another story for another time

Dinner is on the go now, and Monatans tonight for $3 pints. Im short on cash so i think im only gunna have one. Anyways, Later.

oh, and my Moments in Grace CD finally arrived at HMV, about fucking time.
