I'm raising Ryan in a home full of music. We listen to everything from Mozart and Beethoven to the Youngblood Brass Band (amazing by the way and you should all go download some of their stuff) and the Goo Goo Dolls and Backstreet Boys.

When John's song comes on Ryan's face lights up and he jumps up and down, bopping around and says Daddy over and over again. He asks for Gay-Gay's songs a lot and I keep trying to get him to say Kevin. It's not working.

The recording John made of Lovesong so long ago is wearing itself out. I've been meaning to ask him to give me a new copy and I was hoping he and Kevin might find time to record a version of the song together. I think it would be nice for Ryan to have a lullaby that is being sung by both his Daddies.

I picked up a lot of stuff for Kevin for Father's Day. A carseat of his own for the car and a book on what to expect the toddler years, and some cheesy t-shirt that says "My Daddies love me". Ryan's old enough to love to finger paint and scribble crayons over paper so we made plenty of pictures to post all over the refrigerator.

We made handprints with paint and framed them with this poem
"Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls
But every day I'm growing --
I'll be grown some day
And all those tiny handprints
Will surely fade away

So here's a little handprint
Just so you can recall
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small "

And then of course footprints and framed them with this poem

"Walk a little slower daddy,
said a child so small.
I'm following in your footsteps and I don't want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.

Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.

And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you."

We're going to drop them off together and Ryan will get to spend the afternoon with John and Kevin.
