Miscellaneous reactions to 593.
Trying to make some sense of what Luffy's up to, summarising what we've learned from the past three manga chapters:
1. It's Rayleigh's idea, and it's to avoid a repeat of what happened on Sabaody, presumably of the crew getting in trouble with the Tenryuubito, who are out for the Strawhats' blood. (Maybe Rayleigh knows that Kuma might come back? Although, leaving Shakky and Duval and the others to guard the ship against a completely inhuman Kuma...what could Rayleigh be thinking?!) He lets Luffy decide whether to do it, and Luffy presumably agrees.
2. It's huge news, reported in all the newspapers.
3. In reaction to what's printed in the newspaper, Chopper says, "Luffy...?! Why again...?!" So presumably it's something that's happened before.
4. The news reveals that whatever it is, Luffy got away safe (Robin). It also amuses her, but then, what doesn't?
5. Sanji's reaction is "Ehh?! Luffy?!"
6. Iva: "Did you see the paper today?! Strawboy surprised me yet again...!! He's as unprecedented as his father!" So...not *that* repetitive, then, or repetitive of something only the Strawhats and not the whole world knows about?
7. Vivi reads the newspaper article with a "strained expression", and says, "Stylish? Nah, I guess not. But it's Luffy-san!"
8. Crocodile: "Right after finally getting their lives saved, just what are these idiots thinking...?!" So...who's "they"? It can't just be Luffy and Rayleigh.
9. Mr. 1: "They must be planning something." And then later, "Strawboy is 'wounded'. Do wounds disappear that easily?" So...it's something that seems to show Luffy back at full-strength then?
10. Buggy is featured in the newspaper as a hero. So...what's up with that? Is *he* the other person Crocodile's referring to? And then he gets a letter from the government...DON'T TELL ME HE TURNED LUFFY IN TO BECOME A SHICHIBUKAI!!! But then people wouldn't think Luffy's okay...hmmmmmmmmm.
Okay, that exercise didn't leave me much wiser about what's going on, but at least I have something to think about.
Now onto other topics.
Curly-brows.
Sanji's wanted poster coming back to bite him made me laugh so hard. Oh well, thank goodness it's not him in THE dress! And Duval was so cool! And I looked at him closely for the first time since the Parage Shot, and am amused by the eyebrows with the tiny curls on the end. Oh, and, I noticed for the first time that Jimbei has a whole curly-wurly theme going on with him too, and he has *double* curls where his eyebrows would be. Yes, I'm completely unobservant.
Dragon.
His reaction to his subordinates' reaction was so wry! And, as I said to Dandy, I love his expression when he talks about Kuma. It made me think *I* was seeing him as human for the first time, with his frown so clearly visible under the tattoo.
Kuma.
Gah!!! What's going to happen to Shakky and the others now that Kuma is wholly a WG weapon? And would what Shakky said confirm to them that Kuma was working for the Revolutionaries and make them DO BAD THINGS? Yikes!!! Although, this might be a good time for Shakky to show more awesomeness!
