This past weekend me and others took a lovely 11 hour bus ride to jolly ole scotland. although we left at 6 am we didn't arrive until it was too dark to do much exploring. after the ridiculous amount of time on the bus we checked into our tiny hostel room and got some food where some scary Italian men turned nice and we enjoyed a much needed meal. we then went on a haunted tour which everyone was disappointed in cuz it wasn't that scary, but being the dork I am, I very much enjoyed all the history facts. when we went under the city into the vaults I was terrified that something was gonna grab me or touch me or something else scary so I was a baby the whole time, however, I made it out safe and sound. That night we pubbed it up downstairs from the hostel, met some aussies, and got lost forever and finally made it to a bar called the filling station where I was almost not let in cuz I only had my school ID and it could have been faked. somehow we all got home safe and sound until I woke up in the middle of the night thinking my camera wasn't there, but it was. The next day, the six of us girls got ready somehow in our tiny room and headed out to Holyrood Palace where the Queen stays when she visits Scotland in the summer. After we had some time to kill until the next tour so we walked around in and out of various stores in the town. I could not stop thinking about how lucky I am to be here, it's just too insane. It's like you're walking around and there's all this touristy stuff and modern shops, but then it's like hmm, there's a Gothic style building from hundreds of years ago. Or we'd wonder down some random alleyway in the middle of nowhere. anyway, after all of my awe, I was even more awed when we approached the Edinburgh Castle which is on top of a dormant volcano. So I can proudly say I've been in a castle on top of a volcano, so there. The view from the top was indescribable and we were so fortunate to have a clear blue day to observe the town of Edinburgh to the sea. I'm sure everyone was annoyed by how many times I said I couldn't believe how amazing it was, but it was indeed amazing. After another day full of awe we headed out for another night on the town and were treated very nicely from some bartenders at Brecks. Sunday morning we checked out of the hostel and took a cab to the Queen's yacht which is no longer used by the Royal family. We saw everything from their sun deck, to the bedrooms, to the sitting and dining room, to the kitchen and medical area. wow, these Royal people have some bling. After that we got to be on the bus for another 11 hours and it was oh so pleasant. Now it is three days later and tomorrow I will be heading to Amsterdam =)
