• Awards
  
  • CKR has been nominated for "Lead Performance by a Male in a Feature Length Drama" for his part in Normal. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place May 23rd and May 24th at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver. [note outside LJ links]
    
  • Sarah Polley will be honored at the Summer Institute Of Film and Television this May. [note outside LJ link]

  • Bruce McDonald's newest film The Tracey Fragments will be playing in various locations for the next couple of months. If interested in attending with other fen, or if you know of a showing, please comment or send an email. [note outside LJ link]

  • The rumor of Daniel MacIvor writing the screenplay for Hard Core Logo 2 has been confirmed. Many, many thanks to lamentables
    
• Television
  
  • A sequel to DaVinci's Inquest/DaVinci's City Hall, Quality of Life, will broadcast June 14th on CBC at 9pm. Please note the time change. Quality of Life will feature many original cast members as well as HD. [note outside LJ link]
    
  • HD has been tapped to host INK: Alter Egos Exposed, which "is a 10 part documentary series that explores and celebrates the global phenomenon of comic books and comic book culture."

  • hard_core_hero is holding a fanathon - pick a prompt and do something that's both creative and related to Hard Core Logo. Here are the rules.
    
• Multi-Fandom
  
  • ds_snippets's Challenge #68 has five lovely new prompts: fault, passage, mourning, bury, door. Snippets are due by May 25th. See this post for rules and regulations.
    
  • slashthedrabble's Challenge #3 is Dirty. Drabbles are due by June 4th. See this post for rules and regulations.
    
  • svmadelyn is running a multi-fandom kink/cliché challenge. Submissions are due May 26th . Check out the information post for more information.
    
  • boxathon - a "thinking outside the box" multi-fandom ficathon is continuing until the deadline of May 24th June 7th. It is being run by brooklinegirl and mrsronweasley. The main catch is that you have to pick a fandom you've never written in before.
    
  • amplificathon - began on April 7th and is running until June 2nd - is a points-based podfic-creating challenge being run by anatsuno, raz0rgirl and general_jinjur. Please read the FAQ for more information. This would be a great opportunity to podfic some of the smaller C6D fandoms since you get extra points for small fandoms...There is a master list of point totals and as of May 21st, leviticus_lied is in the lead with 478 points.
    
  • smallfandomfest has announced Small Fandom Fest the Third. Prompts may be submitted from May 1st through May 21st. The claiming of prompts and the posting per starts May 23 and ends July 31st. The challenge will close July 31st. Please read the rules if you have any questions.
