Community News:

• Next week's C6D chat will be held on May 10th and will feature episodes of due South, starting at 9 PM EST. Contact sisterofdream or malnpudl for more information.
  
• CKR has been nominated for “Lead Performance by a Male in a Feature Length Drama" for his part in Normal. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place May 23rd and May 24th at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver. [note outside LJ links]
  
• Bruce McDonald's newest film The Tracey Fragments will be playing in various locations for the next couple of months. If interested in attending with other fen, or if you know of a showing, please comment or send and email. [note outside LJ link]
  
  • It is showing at the Northwest Film Forum in Seattle starting June 13th. [note outside LJ link]
    
• Con.txt, a multimedia slash convention, is being held June 13th through June 15th in Silver Spring, Maryland. See con_txt for more information.
  
• Muskrat Jamboree 2009 has been scheduled for April 3rd and April 4th, 2009 in Boston, Massachusetts. Registration will go live on October 25th and will be limited to 140 people. Muskrat Jamboree is a mutli-fandom, slash-oriented con. Check out the con community muskratjamboree or contact a member of the con committee brooklinegirl, driense, kageygirl, misspamela or mrsronweasley for more information.
  
• A new multi-fandom archive has opened up to store ebook-ready fanfictions. Please visit the Ebook Library or contact amothea or sprat for more information. The archive is still looking for volunteers, and authors can sign up to post their own stories.

• In an effort to encourage more activity, aingeal8c has put up an interest poll at ds_meta about a dS/C6D metathon. Please go and vote.
  
• There is an interest poll for planning and discussing can_con2008, a slash-oriented fan mini-convention running in parallel to the official RCW139 convention. [note outside LJ link]
  

Challenges/Ficathons:

• C6D Arbor Day Cardathon was being run by sisterofdream to uncelebrate Arbor Day. Arbor Day was April 25th. sisterofdream will be posting a master list of cards.
  
• ds_snippets's Challenge Sixty-Six has five lovely new prompts: bottle, keyhole, hem, virtue, twigs . Snippets are due by May 11th. See this post for rules and regulations.
  
• The tm_challenge “Light Out Of Darkness" challenge ended on May 2nd. Please see this post for details. Voting will continue until May 17th
  
• amplificathon - There is a master list of point totals and as of May 10th, leviticus_lied is in the lead with 382 points.
  
• hard_core_hero is holding a fanathon - pick a prompt and do something that's both creative and related to Hard Core Logo. Here are the rules.
  
• smallfandomflsh's Challenge #2 has a lovely new prompt: Jaded. Fics are due by May 21st. See this post for rules and regulations.
  
• smallfandomfest has announced Small Fandom Fest the Third. Prompts may be submitted from May 1st through May 21st. The claiming of prompts and the posting per starts May 23 and ends July 31st. The challenge will close July 31st. Please read the rules if you have any questions.
  
• smallfandomfest is also having “Pimp Your Small Fandom" - go to this post for more details.
  
• thearchive2 is running a Cylon challenge for the duration of Battlestar Galactica's Season 4. The Archive is for experimental fanworks for Battlestar Galactica Season 4 and beyond. The 01000011 Challenge : Rewrite or remake a scene from the episode from the POV of the Cylons or a Cylon.
  
• The May picture prompts have been posted to tinman_fic
  
• tm_challenge is holding the First Annual Tin Man Fan Fiction Grand Prix. “This will be a 10-week, rotational challenge which will combine text, dialogue, and image prompts. This is also a double-blind contest. Your identity as an author will be completely confidential until the very end of the Grand Prix. Also, no one will be able to see who has voted for which stories. This way, authors and writers who don't have large followings will be on level footing with those who do. Winners will be determined by how many points they earn from the weekly polls."
