So yeah. In Johannesburg now, leaving for that safari / game reserve thingie tomorrow at 8am.
I suspect that my earlier mini-tantrum about leaving home was a bit over the top. Now that I'm in the company of some of my favourite people from outside Manila, I'm actually having fun. I knew I would, but I was being a brat 12 hours before I left for this place. And yeah, I'm feeling a little bit embarassed about it. Sheesh. When will I ever learn to not have juvenile fits?!?
So anyway, today was spent with the staff members, doing skillshares while the board and the managers met to talk about Serious and Adult Stuff. Not that the rest of us didn't talk about serious shit -- sharing the beauty of spreadsheet formula-formulation is not for kids, that's for sure. Ditto PGP How-To's, which the Argentinian Santana called "Assymetric Encryption", which sounds like something straight out of a Philip K. Dick short story. I was handing that session and the "Assymetric Encrytion" made me giggle, for some reason.
Then, there was that face-to-face, from across the room, chat session / online pool game with
jhybeturtle while everyone else was busy discussing wifi security. Not very mature, I know. And it's all The Turtle's fault! I am a paragon of maturity and responsibility. I really am.
Tonight, we went to a pretty cool restaurant where instead of cocktails, we were given hand drum lessons instead. That was super fun. My hands fucking hurt but I had fun. If I were to be a musician, I think I'd be a hand drummer girl. It's probably the one instrument that a tone-deaf person can play -- you can count and time the drumbeat, so you don't need to actually be able to know one note from the next. Definitely worth exploring.
I've been taking a tonne of photos, too. But I'm too lazy to upload them right now.
Right. Off to bed. I have to wake up early tomorrow.
