Well, I'm really slack, aren't I? No updates for almost two weeks...

Anyway, thanks to the three people who sent good wishes for stupid trials on the last entry. It turns out that it didn't matter and I had nothing to worry about because although eleven people nominated, only nine bothered to show up. Needless to say, those nine are in the team, and I am one of them. The two that didn't show up won't even get reserve status. First training session was Wednesday night. We tried to figure out other times for training, which seemed totally impossible. They were all saying, "No, I have club training/State League training/other random sport/might have to work..." And of course they won't train Sunday morning because some of them said, "No, I won't have recovered from Saturday night drinking." Is it just me, or is that a really pathetic excuse? You join a rep team, you make sacrifices, and the drinking excuse should be totally unacceptable anyway. As it is, we only have one hour-and-a-half session per week, which is NOT ENOUGH. I hate training, but I'm going to make the effort to go to extra sessions with other teams that my mother coaches.

Anyway, end self-righteous rant. Really there are only one or two in the team that I don't like. I'm not going to say names in case anyone finds this, of course, but I just really don't appreciate people who think going drinking and being hungover exempts them from bothering to train. Most of them are OK though, and a few in particular are really nice. The coach is a lady that Mum's been playing with and coaching for years. She won't accept the alcohol excuse, which is good, although she's got a bit of a reputation for getting on the grog on rep trips herself. :-P One year in Adelaide she and my mother jumped in the pool fully clothed and blind drunk at half past five in the morning when it was insanely cold to race for a six-pack. Then they put the men's team (who were also blind drunk) in the clothes dryers in the laundry and turned them on. My mother has the pictures to prove it. *g*

So, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, huh? Like everyone else, I have my theories of course, but I plan to keep them to myself in case I'm wrong. :-P I'll have to go and re-read Chamber of Secrets though, since JKR has said it's hint-o-riffic. I'll probably just get frustrated when I don't find anything. I bet they're the type of hints you only get in retrospect. :-P

What else was I going to say? Oh yes, does everyone remember the Townsville kitten killers? Well, yesterday they were booted out of the Army. We cheer loudly at that. And their insanely lenient sentences are under appeal, because everyone knows they're way too light, so hopefully they'll all get chucked in jail for a couple of years.

Going to house- and pet-sit for Naomi next week. Anthony and I will inhabit her room in her house in Fortitude Valley for two weeks. Poor Anthony probably won't survive without his beloved internet. He's actually considering spending more time at work just so he can be online. At least he'll have a brand spanking new computer with a brand spanking new video card and motherboard, so while he stays at work on the internet I'll be with his computer, playing Morrowind and amazingly having it not be clunky and slow. :-P Also, during the period of being so close to Chinatown and all the wonderful restaurants, I expect to gain at least five hundred kilos.

During the two weeks since my last entry I have been befriended by people! Hurrah! *waves to classiclinz*

Also, I'd like to welcome dis0wned to LJ. He rants about stuff that pisses him off. That's all you really need in a good journal. :-P

Blah. I'm going to go and sleep now, even though I don't get to go home for another three hours. It's Anthony's fault for making me get out of bed at 4.30am for the last two days so he can use my Foxtel and my blanket and sometimes my cat to watch the Euro soccer thing. While I admit that I have enjoyed the games, I have NOT enjoyed the cold or the early or the claws of my cat as she tries to avoid the cold by sleeping on me. *grumble* Anthony's just happy because Greece made it through to the final, even though no-one expected them to. Also, Anthony's only really started supporting Greece in the last three days. :-P Honestly, he's got so much pride in his heritage that I could vomit. No, really.
