So, we planted vegetable seedlings two weeks ago, and most of them have doubled in size. The exceptions are the eggplants (which like even hotter weather) and some of the peppers (which also like hotter weather). We have blooms on our tomatillo and sungolds already, and it's all so exciting.
We thought the chilitepin was gone (something stepped on it or maybe ate its tiny tiny top leaves), but it's coming back. We figure it's probably stronger now. I put "critter ridder" all over the ground near i, so maybe that will help. We planted that directly into the ground because its a big bush. Everythng else is in our raised bed, so we're going to have to get a fence / bird net as well as maybe some chemically pesticide. We'll start with lady bugs, though.
What we've really learned is to plant small seedlings. We spent all this money on mid-sized flowering plants last year and they all died. The exceptions were a handful of very cheap tiny seedlings I got on a whim. I'll make another public post when they bloom.
