Well, there is that. I do love LARP. I love dressing up and being someone else for a while. That makes me very, very happy.

Rather than quitting a specific game, I usually just don't join if it's something I think I won't enjoy, because there's nothing worse than being angry about the way you spend your free time. It's really bad...I remember the bad old days of LARP when friendships would literally end because of something that happened in a make-believe world. It was kind of sad.

That being said, i recently played an NPC in an OWoD game, and I did enjoy myself, in spite of the setting, in spite of the fact that I was a vampire. It was enjoyable because there were some really, really well done characters. Also, it's very difficult to pick out a time when a LARP was "boring". Because it is what you make it, it's only ever going to be as boring as you allow it to be.

Anyway, yeah. Point taken. I guess for me, the frustration has come about because I would really like to play in a LARP. Really. It's difficult to get in to a setting that doesn't resonate, though, and so I'm certainly leery about playing Vampire - i'd prefer not to start than to be angry about it halfway through. There are limited choices in this area. One or two Vampire games (OWoD) and two home-made systems (one of which you play in, and I run, so it's kind of tough for me to play).

All of this amounts to me whining, really. Whining because I'm desperate for some variety, and not getting my way. Fooey on me.
