I think this is my last semester as an undergrad. I could have been done last semester, but I stayed to choreograph for the student concert (hereby referred to as New Moves) in the fall. I should probably try to graduate after that. Though I won't be able to walk (if I must due to family pressure) until next spring.
So, New Moves is basically the Advanced Choreography class. Comp III. It's a semester long process that culminates with a showcase of student work (danced by students) the first weekend in December. I'm choreographing a trio. I alternate between excitement and panic. I ended up with some good dancers, but it's hard for me to stay on-task every week like that. I think that will be easier once I've decided on music and have a more specific plan. I'm not too worried about the choreography (I guess), but it's weird to be staging anything on a proscenium stage. The angle is up from or even with the audience, and I'm used to viewing everything from a 45 degree angle above the stage due to guard. Also I've never staged anything with only three people. I'm used to at least 8. I thought about adding a couple more, but it's hard to coordinate schedules with that many people.
I'm also taking Ceramics II again. Wheel-throwing. I'm enjoying it, but I'm a bit rusty. It's kicking my booty in different ways than the dancing, but not significantly less. Holding the sides of your hands against swiftly rotating sand takes some getting used to. I think I'm improving, though. And this teacher seems stricter that the last one, but there are less mandatory projects.
Modern III again. Cathleen. Oh, how I love and hate it. I guess I'm getting better, though, since now I seem to love it more than hate it. Surely that's progress.
Still loving the Berkeley life. The train commute to school is actually easier than the bus ride from my San Francisco neighborhood. Except for the horrendously long line for the shuttle from the school to the station. I'll have to figure out what time isn't good for everyone else on campus.
