i've gotten so quiet lately

I'm trying to figure out my schedule for next year. I still need to talk to an advisor or two, but if things work out just right (hmm... that's rather optimistic of me), I should graduate in a year with a BA in Dance and a BA in Art (Art Education Emphasis). I think I'll even be able to do some work-study. 'cause I needs me a job. I'm more dance-focused these days, but I'm too close to the Art degree to drop it.

It's a little complicated because I think I'll be in the University Dance Theater next year. Which is not a practical life choice, because it takes a lot of time, but is something I don't think I can turn down. The members really improve as dancers, and I have several friends who will be in it. I miss having any sort of sense of community. And there's a possibility UDT will get a grant to have Brenda Way set an ODC masterpiece on them. Which is the equivalent of your favorite guitarist teaching you how to play one of their songs. Brenda Way is the artistic director/choreographer of ODC (Oberlin Dance Collective), which is a hugely successful modern dance company in the city. They have huge ads on the sides of buses and own a multi-million dollar building in the Mission. I love her choreography, and this would be my only opportunity to work with someone of that caliber. So... UDT better get that grant.

There's also a concert in the fall called New Moves that is a showcase of student works. I just finished Comp 2 (Choreography 2), so I could be a part of it. It sounds like another awesome opportunity, and would look great on resumes (Yes, actually, I have produced work for the stage), but it would also take a LOT of time. And I'm pretty greedy about my time. I don't do anything now and I still feel like I don't have enough time to do it in. But maybe I would get more done if I was busy. I might work like that. I could get a good chunk of the choreography done this summer though, if I can stay motivated.

As to this summer - we're going to Seattle at the end of May for a bit. Then I'm taking a Janice Garrett Intensive (modern dance) in mid-July. So I'm considering visiting Panama City in late July. I'd like to be there in early June also, but that's not financially feasible. Stupid non-money.

I'm glad this semester is almost over. I need to do all this detail stuff, like photo organization and posting and printing. I miss reading for fun and not writing dance reviews. Which I must go do.
